“Jaws” not only changed how people viewed sharks in 1975, it also changed the way audiences viewed horror. After the Bruce prop (the nickname given to the shark as a nod to director Steven Spielberg lawyer) was having issues, some of his scenes were cut. This created a bit of a happy accident. Suddenly the shark offscreen became even scarier.
