Junior Woodchucks theming coming to Paris’ Davy Crockett Ranch
Disneyland Paris will renovate the Disney Davy Crockett Ranch hotel with theming based on Donald Duck and the Junior Woodchucks.
Davy Crockett Ranch Overhaul
All 584 cabins/bungalows at the Disney-owned property — located 15 minutes from Disneyland Paris — will be refurbished with modern elements. The project will begin later in 2024.
It’s unclear if the Junior Woodchucks motif will extend to the resort property as a whole, or limit itself to design flourishes in the cabins.
Disney announced the renovation today, and although the company didn’t distribute high-resolution concept art of the updated Davy Crockett Ranch cabins, Mousesteps captured a photo of artwork during a media presentation. The image shows a large mural featuring Huey, Dewey, Louie, Webby, and Humphrey the bear.
The changes at Davy Crockett Ranch follow the royal-themed renovation of Disneyland Hotel, which reopened in January.
The Junior Woodchucks
The Junior Woodchucks is “a pseudo-scout organization to which Donald’s nephews belonged, created by [comic book] artist Carl Barks,” according to “Disney A-Z: The Official Disney Encyclopedia.”
In addition to comic-book appearances, the Junior Woodchucks have appeared in “DuckTales” (both the original 1980s series and the recent reboot).
In 2016, Tokyo Disneyland opened Camp Woodchuck, an area within Westernland (that park’s equivalent of Frontierland) with a quick-service dining location and a character greeting spot with Donald and Daisy.
Camp Woodchuck’s woodland aesthetic paired with the toony flair of Disney ducks may (or may not) provide an idea of what’s to come for Davy Crockett Ranch.
