‘Disney Adventure World’ new name of Walt Disney Studios in Paris

Walt Disney Studios Park — the movie-themed park at Disneyland Paris — will become Disney Adventure World with the upcoming opening of World of Frozen, a new land.

The expanded park will not only add the “Frozen” land — previously announced and well under construction — in the coming years, but also a “Tangled” spinning ride and “a brand-new immersive world, whose concept and design are currently being finalized by Imagineers.”

Disney previously announced a version of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge for this park, which was not mentioned in today’s announcement.

Disney announced the name change April 12, 2024, the 32nd anniversary of Disneyland Paris.

“Fresh Creative Vision” for Walt Disney Studios Park

After transporting generations of guests into the magic of movie-making, the second park at Disneyland Paris is entering a new era marked by a fresh creative vision, brand-new experiences, an expansion on a never-before-seen scale, and the introduction of an all-new visual identity.”

“Today, we are changing the story of Walt Disney Studios Park, evolving from ‘how it’s done’ soundstages to celebratory theaters and adventures that come to life in immersive worlds,” said Tom Fitzgerald, chief storytelling executive of Walt Disney Imagineering and senior creative executive for Disneyland Paris. “These fully-realized adventure worlds will become the focus of the park’s new identity and appear as realms that guests discover as they navigate deeper within the park and are invited to participate in adventures inspired by our most beloved stories.”

“Guests will embark on a journey that blends the magic and emotion of our beloved franchises with explorations into faithfully recreated new worlds,” said Natacha Rafalski, president of Disneyland Paris. “This significant evolution inspired us to rename the Park, heralding a vibrant new chapter for Disneyland Paris.”

Disney applied nearly the exact same sentiment of converting a behind-the-scenes park into a focus on more built-out immersion when it renamed Disney-MGM Studios to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2008 at Walt Disney World Resort. In 2015, Disney CEO Bob Iger mentioned Hollywood Studios would receive yet another name change, but that never happened.

World of Frozen

Disney announced its “Frozen”-themed land in Paris will be titled World of Frozen, the same as the Hong Kong Disneyland area that debuted last December. Also like Hong Kong, Disney Adventure World’s World of Frozen will include a version of Frozen Ever After, the boat ride that first opened at Epcot in 2016.

Disney has not announced an opening timeline for World of Frozen at Disney Adventure World.

Adventure Way + “Tangled” Ride

A promenade called Adventure Way will provide passage to the expanded area of the park.

The outdoor corridor will feature the teacups-style Raiponce Tangled Spin ride and The Royal View Restaurant and Lounge, a table-service location hosting character meals with Disney Princesses.

Additional concept art for Adventure Way — with a filename that includes the phrase “English Garden” —  shows a gazebo with live entertainment, flanked by a statue of Peter Pan.

Adventure Bay + Unannounced Land

Adventure Bay, a new lagoon, will be “the heart of the park expansion, serving as a gateway to the new themed universes that will surround it,” Disney said. That will include World of Frozen, plus a future, to-be-announced realm.

The lake will also be home to “water-based entertainment.”

Avengers Campus Nighttime Show

A new entertainment offering will debut in Paris’ Avengers Campus “by the end of 2024” and lasting through spring 2025. The show —  technically described as an “activation,” implying a shorter length rather than a full-scale production — will feature projections, special effects, and several Marvel characters making their Disneyland Paris debut.

Notably, this is different from the previously displayed “Avengers”-themed drone show (pictured below).

Avengers Campus, which opened in 2022 in Paris, features the same “Spider-Man” attraction as Disney California Adventure’s Avengers Campus counterpart, plus an “Avengers”-themed iteration of the park’s former Rock ‘n Roller Coaster.

World Premiere

The original entrance of Walt Disney Studios Park featured an indoor Hollywood Boulevard of sorts, called Studio 1.

Disney will renovate this entrance experience to become World Premiere, opening spring 2025. Instead of taking place on an active film set, the area will now evoke a Hollywood gala premiere night.

World Premiere Plaza

The outdoor plaza guests reach after passing through World Premiere will become World Premiere Plaza, home to existing theaters and furnished with art deco architecture.

“Alice & The Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland”

In the short-term, Disney shared details for the previously announced “Alice in Wonderland” show in which guests will choose the ending.

Titled “Alice & The Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland,” the show will debut May 25, 2024 with “high-flying acrobats pushing their limits in a supercharged pop and rock showdown,” Disney said.

Inside World of Frozen
