Several rides and attractions are closing permanently at Disney and Universal theme parks to make way for new projects.

  • Originally opened: 1998
  • Replacement: The Magic of Disney Animation

Dinosaur | Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park

Indoor thrill ride in a Jeep-like vehicle

  • Closing date: Feb. 2, 2026
  • Last day open: Feb. 1, 2026
  • Originally opened: 1998 (as “Countdown to Extinction”)
  • Replacement: Indiana Jones-themed ride recycling the same Jeep-like ride system

Collection of character meet & greets with Donald Duck and friends

  • Closing date: Feb. 2, 2026

  • Replacement: Tropical Americas-themed land

Recent closings at Disneyland

Disneyland Resort also recently permanently closed the Red Car Trolley on Buena Vista Street at Disney California Adventure. The ride’s backstage facilities were in the way of the upcoming expansion to Avengers Campus.
