From Disney parks to movie theaters and anime conventions, themed popcorn buckets have become a pop culture phenomenon. What was once a simple container for a salty treat has evolved into a collector’s item, a fashion statement, and a nostalgic memento.
With the June 27 release date of Blumhouse Productions’ “M3GAN 2.0” approaching, another quirky yet powerful symbol in popcorn bucket form can be found at several movie theaters. However, these bring the creepy vibe expected with M3GAN.
M3GAN’s face comes off in the AMC popcorn bucket
We spotted a M3GAN popcorn bucket with a removable face at the AMC at Disney Springs. Looks like Bruce the shark from “Jaws” is enjoying his snack.
M3GAN popcorn bucket at Cinemark
Cinemark Theatres released a video (above) of the M3GAN 2.0 popcorn bucket coming soon. This popcorn bucket displays the more advanced outfit the killer robot uses in the sequel. From what we know of the plot of “M3GAN 2.0,” she will need all the technological advantages she can get to fight off a new threat.
Alamo Drafthouse M3GAN popcorn bucket
Alamo Drafthouse is possibly upping the game regarding popcorn buckets, having designed one in which movie-watchers can grab their popcorn directly from the head of the robot, M3GAN. Fans can gear up for the robot battle during “M3GAN 2.0” at Alamo with a free M3GAN 2.0 pin set, an exclusive popcorn bucket, and a gold charm, while supplies last. Also, this popcorn bucket is exclusive to Alamo and was designed by their own Grace Svoboda. This popcorn bucket hinges open mid-face to hold popped corn or whatever else guests want to store in it after the movie.
Regal Cinemas
Regal Cinemas offers a “M3GAN 2.0” popcorn bucket, in the shape of a more traditional tin bucket with M3GAN displayed on the outside. Regal also sells a sipper, with the killer robot herself sitting on top. Regal says, “Get ready for the ultimate upgrade with the M3GAN 2.0 Collectible Combo! This killer combo includes a popcorn bucket topped with a fierce M3GAN figurine and a matching drink cup.”
Regal is also hosting a contest to win a trip to Halloween Horror Nights and will sell a special M3GAN’s Peach Protocol cocktail.
