In addition to a relaxing, tropical island experience, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point will celebrate the art, culture, and stories of The Bahamas similar to how Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa celebrates the people and way of life of Hawaii.

Bahamian-Inspired Venues

When guests debark from their Disney ship, they will arrive at Mabrika Cove. “Mabrika” means “welcome” in the language of the Lucayans, the first nation people of The Bahamas before the arrival of Columbus.

From Mabrika Cove, families will pass the Goombay Cultural Center. This festive space embodies the essence of the Bahamian dance and music festival known as “Junkanoo.” Thought to have started in The Bahamas, Junkanoo festivals spread throughout the Caribbean and include masks, costumes, drumming, dance, and parades. These Junkanoo elements will come to life across Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

Goombay is a genre of Bahamian music as well as the drum used to create it. These Goombay drums can be made from simple cans with skins stretched across the top and played with the hands. The name Goombay can also refer to the Calypso music of the region. Disney’s Goombay Cultural Center will feature a brilliantly colored pavilion with an arch inspired by bright, Junkanoo masks and costumes that will invite guests in to learn more about the sights, sounds, and spirit of The Bahamas signature festival.

Next up, is Triton’s Trumpet Stage, which is all about family entertainment. The gazebo’s name comes from the Triton’s Trumpet shell that can be found on beaches throughout the Bahamas. This spiral sea snail shell can grow up to 15 inches in the warm tropical waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

Finally, Treasures of Eleuthera is named after the island itself and houses the retail shop stocked with locally made gifts. The store will spotlight Bahamian artists and an array of unique items will be offered for sale as souvenirs.
