Planning a trip to Walt Disney World during the holidays? With festive lights, exclusive entertainment, and limited-capacity crowds, Disney’s after-hours holiday parties are a magical way to celebrate the season.
But if your family can only choose one, should you go with the time-tested charm of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom? Or should you try on the glitz and glam of Disney Jollywood Nights at Hollywood Studios? Here’s how the two compare across key categories to help you decide.

Atmosphere: Classic magic vs. vintage Hollywood glam
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) exudes traditional holiday charm. Snow falls on Main Street, U.S.A., Cinderella Castle twinkles with lights, and beloved characters wear festive costumes. This is the quintessential Disney Christmas, complete with carolers, toy soldiers, and hot cocoa.

Disney Jollywood Nights, a newer event launched in 2023, leans into an old-school Tinseltown vibe with Art Deco backdrops, jazzy music, and a more sophisticated tone. The decorations throughout Hollywood Studios evoke mid-century holiday style, and the entertainment lineup reflects that theatrical flair.

Best for: Families with younger kids or first-time Disney guests may prefer the cozy familiarity of MVMCP. Families with teens or those looking for something stylish and different might enjoy the upscale feel of Jollywood Nights.
Characters and entertainment
MVMCP offers a robust lineup of family-friendly entertainment, including:
- “Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade“
- “Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks“
- Stage shows like “Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration”
- Character meet & greets with rarer appearances (like Jack Skellington as Sandy Claws and Goofy as Santa Goofy, to name a few)
- Ride overlays, like Space Mountain with holiday music
- Disney Jr. dance parties

At Jollywood Nights, the focus is more on shows and ambiance:
- “Disney Holidays in Hollywood” stage show with Kermit and Miss Piggy
- “Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam!” fireworks/projections show
- “What’s This? Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Sing-Along”
- Character appearances include Powerline Max, Edna Mode, and Phineas & Ferb
- Live jazz music at the Twilight Soirée at the Tip Top Club
- A ice skating show entitled “Glisten!” featuring original songs and Disney favorites

Best for: MVMCP wins for volume and variety of entertainment geared toward kids. Jollywood Nights appeals more to fans of stage shows and unique characters.
Rides and wait times

Both parties offer reduced wait times for popular attractions thanks to limited ticketed attendance. At MVMCP, you’ll find shorter lines for favorites like the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Peter Pan’s Flight, and Space Mountain (which has a holiday overlay during the party).
Jollywood Nights includes access to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Tower of Terror, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and Slinky Dog Dash.
Best for: Families with small children might lean toward Magic Kingdom’s ride lineup, while thrill-seekers and “Star Wars” fans may appreciate what Hollywood Studios offers.
Food and treats

MVMCP includes complimentary cookies and hot cocoa at various treat stations, plus party-exclusive food and beverage items for purchase.
Jollywood Nights steps it up with unique small plates and craft cocktails at lounges and kiosks throughout the park, aiming for a more elevated (and adult-friendly) culinary experience. All items are for purchase, not complimentary.
Best for: If your family is looking for cozy comfort treats included with admission, MVMCP delivers. For those wanting festive foodie options and cocktails, Jollywood Nights fits the bill.
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party vs. Jollywood Nights cost

For 2025, both events run on select nights in November and December. MVMCP typically begins at 7 p.m., with entry to Magic Kingdom allowed at 4 p.m. In contrast, Jollywood Nights starts at 7:30 p.m., with entry to Hollywood Studios at 5:30 p.m.
Prices vary by date, but generally, MVMCP tickets range from $169 to $229, and Jollywood Nights tickets range from $159 to $199. Disney Vacation Club members and Disney World annual passholders can save $10 off their ticket price for select MVMCP dates, but the discount is good for all Jollywood Nights Dates.
Best for: If ticket price is a major factor, MVMCP has slightly higher pricing but offers more inclusive extras (like treats and a parade).
