New Disney Wish venues and experiences themed to ‘Inside Out,’ ‘Frozen’

After dipping her toe (or bow) in the water for the first time last week, Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship – the Disney Wish – is now showing off some of the imaginative new venues and experiences families will experience when she sets sail this July.

From splurging on “Inside Out”-inspired sweet treats to picnicking with “Frozen’s” cuddly snowman to seeing new shows featuring Disney Princesses, villains, and heroes, families aboard Disney Wish have plenty of new venues and experiences to look forward to.

“Family is at the heart of everything we do,” said Walt Disney Imagineering Portfolio Creative Executive Laura Cabo. “When we set out to design the next generation of Disney cruise ships, we wanted to provide families with more opportunities than ever to make lasting memories together and to experience Disney storytelling in completely new ways. Whether it’s a new take on a guest-favorite experience, like our signature sweets shop, or an immersive show in a first-of-its-kind venue like Luna and Hero Zone, there will be no shortage of family fun aboard the Disney Wish.”

Sweet Treats and Fun-Filled Eats Onboard the Disney Wish

Disney Wish - Inside Out Joyful Sweets

Inside Out: Joyful Sweets

The brightly colored new dessert shop inspired by the Pixar film was designed to resemble the control center where Riley’s emotions guide her through everyday life, featuring sculpted figures of “Inside Out’s” five main characters and glowing Memory Orb light fixtures.

Signature “Inside Out-“ inspired treats include chocolate Memory Orbs filled with candy remembrances, and colorful cupcakes that represent the five emotions — Joy (lemon), Sadness (blueberry), Disgust (pistachio), Anger (red velvet), and Fear (bubble gum).

“We are all about feeding the emotions through creating joyful desserts for you and your loved ones to share together,” wrote Executive Pastry Chef Greg McClure in the Disney Parks Blog. “Like Riley, you have the opportunity to create new core memories filled with the joy of family fun. The difference is that this Memory Orb is edible and filled with a sweet surprise. Spoiler alert! It’s candy, but you will have to wait until you sail to see what kind.”

The shop will also offer nearly 40 flavors of gelato and ice cream – with daily special combinations like peanut butter pretzel and white chocolate raspberry – and house-made whipped cream, fruit compotes, and sauces along with a wide selection of tasty toppings. Guests can also indulge in specialty macarons and cake pops, handcrafted truffles, designer cookies, and decadent brownies.

Disney Cruise Line - Anna, Elsa, and Olaf

Olaf’s Royal Picnic

For the first time, guests can join their “Frozen” friends for a summertime picnic in Arendelle during Olaf’s Royal Picnic, where families with kids ages three to 12 can meet Olaf, Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff, and hear live performances of beloved songs like “Let It Go,” “Fixer Upper,” and “In Summer.”

During the premium entertainment experience, Baroness Dagmar Birgir, a lively lady-in-waiting to Queen Anna, supervises the castle staff as they serve delicious summer treats and picnic fare. Children will also receive gifts and keepsakes, including a reversible troll plush, themed picnic blanket, and custom Nordic-style mandolin – which they’ll need for a “Reindeer(s) Are Better Than People” strum-and-sing-along with Kristoff.

Guests who have booked a Disney Wish cruise may reserve Olaf’s Royal Picnic before their sailing for an additional fee.

Immersive Storytelling and Interactive Shows

As previously announced, Disney Cruise Line will be combining innovative design and technology to create Disney Wish family entertainment venues and experiences in the Grand Hall, Luna, and Hero Zone, which will come to life with immersive storytelling and interactive shows, and put families right in the middle of the magic.

Disney Wish - Grand Hall

Grand Hall

The castle-inspired Grand Hall will evolve from a gathering space into an enchanting theater through the magic of built-in special effects and the first-ever atrium stage on a Disney ship.

As families enter the Grand Hall upon embarkation, they’ll be met with a royal greeting where every child will receive their own wishing wand, which they’ll use to make the “First Wish” of their vacation during a special boarding celebration. Then, on the final night of every sailing, cruisers return to the Grand Hall and raise their wands with Fairy Godmother to ignite a farewell show featuring favorite characters, special effects, and performances.

During the sailing, families can attend a royal gathering of Disney Princesses, who will descend into the Grand Hall to meet and greet guests. The Grand Hall stage will also conceal Disney friends during the “Who’s Behind the Curtain?” interactive game show, where guests answer questions to reveal the identity of hidden characters.

Disney Wish - Luna

Luna

This brand-new entertainment hub outfitted with a two-story LED screen wall, stage, and bar will host live shows designed for families to laugh, sing, and compete together. These include “Disney Songbook,” where guests perform their favorite Disney songs for a live camera crew, who will project each performance onto the big screen, and “Villains Game Night,” a game show where guests attempt to answer Disney trivia questions amid heckling by Disney villains including Cruella de Vil, Gaston, Hades, Maleficent, and more, who will join on screen.

Disney Wish - Disney Uncharted Adventure
Disney Uncharted Adventure

During the live grand finale event for Disney Uncharted Adventure – an all-new interactive experience that uses guests’ mobile devices to unlock hidden adventures aboard the ship – families will team up with other cruisers to battle an infamous Disney villain.

Disney Wish - Hero Zone

Hero Zone

Bringing an entirely new category of active family play to the Disney Cruise Line experience, Hero Zone is a futuristic sports arena where physical activity blends with imagination, offering highly-produced show experiences in addition to free-play sports.

Families can test their strength, speed, and stamina during the “Incredi-Games,” a high-energy game show featuring an obstacle course of physical challenges, each inspired by the dynamic characters of Pixar’s “The Incredibles.” The Hero Zone will also host the guest-favorite Disney Cruise Line experience Jack-Jack’s Incredible Diaper Dash, where tots compete for the coveted title of Diaper Dash Champion as they speed-crawl across a 20-foot track while being cheered on by family, friends, and fans.

More Fun Onboard The Disney Wish

In addition to these exciting new venues and experiences, the Disney Wish will bring the worlds and characters of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars adventures to life like never before, including an original, Broadway-style theatrical production of “The Little Mermaid,” a theatrical dining experience with “Frozen” friends, a Marvel cinematic dining adventure, a first-of-its-kind Star Wars experience onboard a Disney ship, the first-ever Disney attraction at sea, and so much more.

Disney Wish - AquaMouse
AquaMouse

The Disney Wish will sail its maiden voyage on July 14, 2022, followed by a season of three- and four-night cruises from Port Canaveral, Fla. to Nassau, Bahamas, and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.
