New nighttime show at Disneyland will illuminate the Rivers of America

With “Fantasmic!” on hiatus due to a devastating fire in April, a new nighttime show at Disneyland is coming to the Rivers of America in New Orleans Square.

Following the grand opening this week of Tiana’s Palace restaurant in New Orleans Square, “The Heartbeat of New Orleans – A Living Mural” will debut on Sept. 29, 2023. The new limited-time nighttime show at Disneyland tells the story of a mischievous frog with a jazz score. It will also be accompanied by projections incorporating original artwork by Disney graphic designer Marcella Swett, whose chalk art in the Downtown Disney District was showcased during Disneyland’s “Celebrate Soulfully” celebration.

In addition, Queenie and the Jambalaya Jazz Band will continue their musical cruises along the Rivers of America on select evenings this fall and nightly during the holiday season.

“Fantasmic!” is expected to return in spring 2024 – but without its iconic 45-foot-tall Maleficent dragon.
