One mom’s birthday becomes Hong Kong Disneyland milestone
Spending a birthday at a Disney theme park is reason enough to celebrate, but the Chen family became part of Disney history when they spent their mother’s birthday at Hong Kong Disneyland and became the 100 millionth guests to visit the park.
The Chen family from Hong Kong frequented the park on Dec. 16, 2023. Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and park executives surprised the Chens — a two-year-old girl, her parents, and her grandparents — with a certificate, a gift package, and, of course, bragging rights.
“Frozen Fever” Takes Over Hong Kong
Hong Kong Disneyland opened in 2005 as the eleventh Disney theme park globally. In recent years, the park added Marvel attractions to Tomorrowland and re-imagined its castle. Last month, the park opened World of Frozen, a “Frozen”-themed land with a boat ride, a kiddie coaster, a character experience, a quick-service restaurant, and retail locations.
As part of their milestone of becoming the park’s 100 millionth guests, the Chen family were joined by Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Ambassador Lily Chan for a ride on Frozen Ever After.
“We are grateful to the millions of guests who have continually supported and visited Hong Kong Disneyland,” said Michael Moriarty, managing director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, “making it a part of their magical memories for 18 years and an iconic tourism landmark in the region. As ‘Frozen fever’ takes over the city with the newly opened World of Frozen, we cannot wait to welcome more and more guests from around the world.”
