‘Operation Red Carpet’ stunt show coming to Movie Park Germany
“Operation Red Carpet,” a brand-new stunt show at Movie Park Germany, will soon be entertaining guests.
Movie Park Germany opened in 1967 in Bottrop, Germany, and offers thrilling roller coasters, water rides, family rides, and shows.
The setting for the park’s newest action-blockbuster “Operation Red Carpet” show will be an extravagant awards ceremony in Los Angeles, and according to Movie Park Germany, will feature elaborately-designed, authentically American set elements and backdrops, spectacular stunt performances, and an entertaining storyline. The stunt show will take place at Studio 6 at Movie Park Studios.
“Operation Red Carpet” Features Hollywood-like Action
Starting in the waiting area, which is supposed to represent the backstage area for the production crew, guests will be live on-site during the show preparations and the big award ceremony.
Thorsten Backhaus, managing director, said “action like in Hollywood will be within reach for guests with the new stunt show.” He also said guests would “become part of the events surrounding a Hollywood awards show.
“It has also been particularly important to us that the stunt show is suitable for the whole family and appeals to several generations,” he added. “Our goal: bringing Hollywood in Germany back to its former glory.”
The basic plot of the show focuses on preparations for the “Golden S.A.M.,” which is given to exceptionally talented action movie stars. Along the way, the red carpet of Movie Park Studios becomes a racetrack, and the Folco Stunt Team from Italy will amaze guests by racing around the stunt set, over ramps, and through Germany’s largest quarter pipe.
In the classic theme park pattern of “something goes wrong,” an elegant awards ceremony turns into a fast-paced chase, an unexpected twist leads to the “Award Gang” appearing to steal the trophies and prizes. Ad the Los Angeles Police Department and the FBI are tracking down the gang, the two stars of the show hunt down the stolen property.
Movie Park Germany Strives to be Authentic
Movie Park Germany focused on an authentic design for the scenery and backdrops for the new stunt set, including the theater for the awards show, a classic American diner, a boutique, a colorful souvenir store, and a limousine service.
“We specifically took inspiration from the look of the buildings in Los Angeles so that we could guarantee our guests the highest level of authenticity and really transport them straight to Hollywood,” said Manuel Prossotowicz, project manager. He also noted that The Hollywood Pacific Theater and the Walk of Fame, among others, served as models.
Movie Park Germany announced that show technicians are also already working at full speed behind the scenes on more than 25 large and small special effects for the new show to create an authentic blockbuster atmosphere. In addition, there are new stunts and show elements not seen before at Movie Park Germany.
With dimensions of twelve by six meters (40 by 20 feet), Movie Park is setting a record for Germany’s largest quarter pipe to date. This quarter pipe is being built by Schneestern GmbH & Co. KG from Durach, the same company that built ramps for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
“Operation Red Carpet” stunt show will utilize a large LED wall above the theater. As a result, this display will be easily viewable from all seat locations. This technology allows the story to expand beyond the stage. Movie Park Germany promises more details about this exciting blockbuster-type stunt show will be forthcoming.
