Just under a year ago, Pandora: The World of Avatar opened at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to tens-of-thousands of guests. Now, coming up on the 20th anniversary of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, a new storytelling element is already being added.
A large part of the story of Pandora at Animal Kingdom is the Pandora Conservation Initiative (PCI). This team works together with the Navi to restore this land, specifically the Valley of Moara. Scientists from PCI wanted to explore deeper into the woodland areas to learn more about the species and sub-species of plants of this incredible place. Therefore, they developed the Pandora Utility Suit.
This suit will be operated by a pilot who will meet with guests. Guests will have the opportunity to learn more about the alien environment they are surrounded by. Imagine the world’s coolest tour guide inside a giant robot.
Yes but this suit is not a war suit from long ago. It’s a research suit. https://t.co/BjuWwNXUKL

Lead Imagineer of Pandora: The World of Avatar, Joe Rohde, spoke up to a fan’s question about the suit. He explained that the suit is not like the war machines seen in the film “Avatar”. Instead these suits primary use are to study the wildlife, collect plant samples, and survive Pandora’s terrain.
Lightstorm Entertainment, Disney Parks Live Entertainment, Michael Curry Studios and Walt Disney Imagineering all partnered up to created this Utility Suit. Disney stated that the suit will be walking around Pandora: The World of Avatar starting April 22. Showtimes to meet the PCI Utility Suit Pilot will be available on the My Disney Experience App.
