ParaNorman back in theaters this Halloween in 3D and with a new short
For a week leading up to Halloween, “ParaNorman” will be in theaters in Remastered Real3D and 2D, with a new short featuring the voices of Anna Kendrick and Finn Wolfhard.

“ParaNorman” is a stop-motion animated film that was released in 2012, and won many awards. Norman was just a kid with the ability to speak to the dead, a skill that comes in handy when his town is suddenly under a zombie attack. Old and new fans will get to enjoy this intro to horror film on the big screen alongside the short called “ParaNorman: The Thrifting.”
International markets will see the movie come back out on Oct. 23, 2025, while U.S. markets will have showings beginning Oct. 25.
The voices featured in this short may sound familiar. Anna Kendrick is known for many roles, including the voice of Poppy from “Trolls.” She’ll reprise her role as Norman’s sister, Courtney. Meanwhile, Finn Wolfhard became a household name when he got the part of Mike Wheeler in “Stranger Things.”
“ParaNorman: The Thrifting” is directed by LAIKA’s lead character designer, Thibault LeClercq, and written by Chris Butler. It was produced in association with Passion Pictures.

Last year “Coraline” was released in theaters to celebrate its 15th anniversary. Sales exceeded expectations, and proved that fans love revisiting a favorite movie on the big screen, especially a horror one that’s fun for the whole family.
The “ParaNorman” release also celebrates LAIKA’s 20th anniversary. Just like with “Coraline,” LAIKA once again teamed up with Fathom Entertainment and Trafalgar Releasing to make this reissue happen.

“’ParaNorman’ was a breakthrough film for LAIKA — emotionally rich, visually daring, and proudly weird in all the right ways,” said LAIKA’s chief marketing & operations officer, David Burke. “Bringing it back to theaters in stunning remastered 3D, paired with a brand-new short film, is an invitation for audiences to rediscover the heart and humor of Norman’s world — or experience it for the first time. Today, horror has become a shared family ritual, and ‘ParaNorman’ sits right at the intersection of spooky and meaningful. It’s the perfect ‘starter horror’ — a gateway into genre storytelling that’s as thoughtful as it is thrilling.”
