Penguin Trek opening July 7 at SeaWorld Orlando, passholder previews begin July 2
Penguin Trek, a family coaster, will open as part of SeaWorld Orlando’s revamped Antarctica area and penguin habitat.

SeaWorld’s Newest Coaster
The Penguin Trek attraction will officially open to the public July 7, 2024. SeaWorld Orlando pass members can ride Penguin Trek early, starting July 2, 2024.

Pass member previews will take place from 8 a.m. through park closing time on the following dates, according to an email from SeaWorld shared by Ethan Hershaft on X:
- July 2-3, 2024: Platinum pass members
- July 4, 2024: Platinum and gold pass members
- July 5, 2024: Platinum, gold, and silver pass members
- July 6, 2024: Platinum, gold, silver, and bronze pass members and Fun Card holders
Penguin Trek, themed to a snowmobile, is categorized as a family launch coaster and reaches speeds of up to 43 mph. The attraction will travel through indoor and outdoor areas. After riding, guests will exit through the park’s penguin habitat.

SeaWorld had initially announced Penguin Trek would open in spring 2024; several weeks ago, the park quietly delayed the coaster’s opening season to summer.

“We are incredibly excited to unveil our newest addition to SeaWorld Orlando’s outstanding coaster lineup,” said Jon Peterson, president of SeaWorld Orlando. “Penguin Trek offers a unique blend of thrills and education, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the wonders of Antarctica while highlighting our dedication to wildlife preservation and family-friendly fun. We’re looking forward to welcoming families and thrill seekers alike to experience the fun of this incredible coaster.”
Antarctica Refreshed
As part of the Penguin Trek project, Antarctica Realm — the land in which Penguin Trek resides — was refreshed and reopened last month. Check out the Antarctica updates in our video tour:
To coincide with the opening of Penguin Trek, SeaWorld Orlando partnered with Club Wyndham Bonnet Creek to create an Antarctica-themed hotel suite, which our reporter Jenna got to visit:
