Gary De’Snake and Gazelle make their Disney On Ice debut (Photos + Video included)
For nearly a decade, “Zootopia” fans have known Gazelle as the biggest pop star in the animal metropolis. Now with Disney on Ice’s newest production, audiences are getting a taste of what a Gazelle concert could be like in person.

Disney On Ice presents “Spotlight Magic!” made its world debut at Orlando’s Kia Center this weekend, and its final act before the show’s finale belongs to “Zootopia 2.” The sequence brings Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde onto the ice alongside two characters making their Disney On Ice debuts: Gazelle and Gary De’Snake. Disney On Ice previously announced both characters as first-ever additions to its productions.
We previously shared a first look at the new “Spotlight Magic!” production, but seeing the Zootopia sequence performed in front of an arena audience revealed just how much of a centerpiece it is.

Gary De’Snake is mesmerizing
Gary De’Snake makes an unexpected entrance that fits his character.
The production uses a large articulated figure that stretches above the performers. Gary’s long blue body coils around the visible support structure while performers maneuver the character across the ice.
The scale works particularly well in an arena. The character also gives the “Zootopia 2” sequence a visual element unlike anything else in ‘Spotlight Magic!’

Gazelle gets her Disney On Ice concert
The segment builds into a full Gazelle performance, complete with backup dancers, elaborate lighting and a large-scale entrance for the pop star.
Judy and Nick join the celebration as the sequence takes on the feel of the massive Zootopia concert audiences have previously only seen on screen.

The reaction inside Kia Center was one of the biggest of the night.
“Zootopia 2” gets the last spotlight
Placement matters here, too. Disney On Ice saves Zootopia 2 for the last segment of the production, immediately before the entire show transitions into its finale.
Judy, Nick, Gary and particularly Gazelle take a prominent position in a production featuring more than 30 Disney characters. The new show also includes “Toy Story,” “Moana,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Tangled” and “Monsters, Inc.,” along with its new Disney Villains sequence.

There’s something particularly fun about hearing an arena erupt when the fictional pop star finally appears in front of an actual crowd.
It’s not quite a real Gazelle world tour. But for a few minutes, Disney On Ice gets surprisingly close.
