Riptide Race pipeline slide opens at Aquatica San Antonio on March 5, 2022, pitting riders against each other in a looping, turning, spinning race to splashdown.
The pipeline slide is the first of its kind for San Antonio, and it will open just in time for the Spring Break crowd to make the most of the city’s sunny weather.
Riptide Race riders will duel against each other on side-by-side flumes that start at the top of a 55-foot tower, then course down 565 feet of slides onboard two-person rafts. The slides’ walls are low enough that racers can see each other as they compete to be first to the splashdown.
“We are excited to open Riptide Race at Aquatica in San Antonio,” Lise Collins, vice president of Aquatica said. “We know our guests are constantly seeking new adventures at our parks and we are always in the hunt to provide them with something unique and exciting to enhance their experience. We think Riptide Race will give park-goers even more reason to love Aquatica and keep coming back for more.”
Along with more ride openings at SeaWorld parks in 2022, the attraction is the third new high-speed water ride Aquatica San Diego has added in recent years.
The height requirement for this fast-paced adventure is 42 inches, making it accessible to most families.
As Riptide Race makes its grand debut, the park will also be opening full-service Turi’s Beach Bar, adjacent to Big Surf Shores wave pool. Beachgoers can enjoy mixed drinks, cocktails, beer, and frozen drinks poolside, or take their libations to their private cabana.
Aquatica San Antonio’s 2022 season starts on March 5, and the water park will be open daily through March 20 to accommodate the Spring Break rush. After March 20, the park will be open Fridays-Sundays until summer, at which time it will resume its normal operating schedule.
Exclusive ride time on Riptide Race will be offered to Aquatica Pass Members throughout the summer. For a limited time, guests who purchase a SeaWorld Season or Annual Pass will get Aquatica for free.
