Rumor Queue: Is ‘The Last of Us’ coming to Halloween Horror Nights?
According to rumors, the world-wide phenomenon, “The Last of Us,” is coming to Halloween Horror Nights as a haunted house. This would be the video game story, not the Pedro Pascal HBO version.
As with any rumor, this is not confirmed until Universal and the Halloween Horror Nights team confirms or denies it, but rumors suggest “The Last of Us – Part 1,” with Joel and Ellie will happen this year at Halloween Horror Nights 32.
The Rumored 2023 Event Theme
The 2023 event theme for Florida is expected to be based on stories involving children and young adults. Other haunted house rumors are “M3GAN” and Chucky.
This would be part of the twisted childhood stories of Cindy Caine, a previously scrapped Halloween Horror Nights icon who could finally have her time in the spotlight.
Why Not Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey?
The simple answer: money and rights. If you’ve played “The Last of Us – Part 1” video game and seen the HBO original “The Last of Us,” you’ll know they are nearly exactly alike. In fact, the similarity has caused social media to continually compare episodes to the game for shots, script, and actor mannerisms.
Since these two are so alike, it makes sense for Universal to get rights to the video game version, which is the original. This will most likely be less expensive, as they won’t have to obtain rights to the script, celebrity likenesses, and updated designs. It would also prevent Universal from having to cast actor lookalikes for Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal, with the video game characters giving them a little more casting leeway. The video game also uses gas masks more often, allowing for more variety in performers without requirements for matching their appearance.
