First gender-inclusive wave pool in Saudi Arabia now open
Cyan Waterpark in Jeddah opened three new wave pools, marking the first gender-inclusive wave pool in Saudi Arabia.

The spaces include an adult pool, a kids pool, and a figure-eight-shaped “action river.” Aquatic Development Group (ADG), a North American-based water park manufacturing firm, developed the gender-inclusive pools in partnership with ProSlide Technology. The pools utilize ADG’s WaveTek wave generator.

“Cyan Waterpark proudly stands as the first waterpark in the Kingdom to offer an inclusive in-water experience, welcoming men, women, and children together in a wave pool,” ADG said in a press release. The document continued, “Supported by both government and local community, this change has assisted in promoting tourism. Although there has been a mix of opinions from visitors, the majority have been very positive.”

“At the end of the day, the goal is to ensure that the residents, locals, and tourists that are visiting are happy and that everyone is on the same page,” said Toheeb Abiodun Ajiboye, head of lifeguards at Cyan Waterpark.
In addition to the first gender-inclusive wave pools in Saudi Arabia, Cyan Waterpark is home to over 10 water slides.
