Penguin Trek, Phoenix Rising opening dates delayed until ‘summer’

Both attractions are new roller coasters which their respective parks describe as “family” coasters, indicating a moderate thrill level. United Parks & Resorts (formerly SeaWorld Entertainment) owns and operates both aforementioned Florida theme parks.

Manufacturing company Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M) built both Penguin Trek and Phoenix Rising. Another B&M coaster, Iron Menace, opened on schedule earlier this month at Dorney Park in Allentown, Penn.

Penguin Trek Opening Date Mystery

SeaWorld Orlando initially announced a spring 2024 opening date for Penguin Trek, the anchor attraction of the park’s revamped Antarctica area.

The park’s website now says the coaster will simply open in “2024.” A press release dated May 29, 2024 mentioned a “summer” opening timeframe for Penguin Trek. The launch coaster will reach speeds of up to 43 mph.

Phoenix Rising Opening Date Mystery

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay originally said the Phoenix Rising roller coaster, coming to the park’s Pantopia area, would open spring 2024.

In a press release distributed May 23, 2024, park personnel instead listed Phoenix Rising as “coming this summer.” Phoenix Rising will suspend riders below its track and reach a maximum speed of 44 mph.
