Sea Lion High now in technical rehearsals at SeaWorld Orlando
All shows must go through some rehearsals before opening to the public. At SeaWorld Orlando, guests are now able to watch the rehearsals for the new Clyde and Seamore show before it officially opens on April 16, 2015.
During technical rehearsals, some elements of the show may not be presented and it may stop at various moments. Before a recent Sea Lion High rehearsal, Kelly Flaherty Clark, curator of animal training at SeaWorld, talked a little bit about what goes into training the animals for the new show. At the same time, a trainer rehearses a technique with one of the sea lions on the stage.
The closer it gets to the opening date, the more of the show will be performed during rehearsals. So far the only time rehearsals take place for guests are at 11:30 a.m. daily.
Clyde and Seamore’s Sea Lion High takes place in an aquatic-themed high school where laughter and education go hand in hand (er, flipper). When the dynamic duo – Clyde and Seamore – are nominated to win scholarships to Ocean University, they must enter crash courses in science, dance and gym. There’s also an educational pre-show that celebrates teachers from all over.
