Sesame Place introduces new Low Sensory Days
Sesame Place Philadelphia will expand its accessibility program this June by adding Low Sensory Days on June 9 and 23, 2024, to create a more inclusive in-park experience.
On the park’s Low Sensory Days, traditionally high-sensibility experiences will be adjusted to make them more accessible to those who require or prefer low-sensibility experiences.
Low Sensory Days Modified Experiences
- Low Sensory Character Dining – The 9:30 a.m. Dine with Elmo & Friends breakfast will include a reduced volume level and optional character interaction for a less stimulating environment.
- Low Sensory Show – Guests can enjoy the 12:15 p.m. performance of “Welcome to the Party!” at Abby’s Paradise Theater with reduced volume and limited audiovisual effects.
While these experiences are designed to be sensory-friendly, all guests are welcome at the designated Low Sensory character dining and show times.
Sesame Place is a Certified Autism Center
Sesame Place Philadelphia is designated a Certified Autism Center by the International Board of Credentialing and Continued Education Standards (IBCCES). The park offers accommodations, including a low-sensory room, the Ride Accessibility Program and Special Access Pass, noise-canceling headphones for single-day use, the Family Care Center, and low-sensory parade viewing and dining options.
In honor of Autism Acceptance Month, Sesame Place is giving away free Sesame Street storybooks at the Welcome Center, and Julia will be available for meet-and-greets throughout the month.
