This holiday season, Shanghai Disney Resort will transform into a winter wonderland, as the resort celebrates the Christmas season with authentic festivities.
The fun begins this week with the first “snowfall” of winter, flurrying exclusively on Shanghai Disney Resort’s Mickey Avenue. This bit of holiday magic will cover the entire street in sparkling white snow, and last until Jan. 1, 2019.
The Christmas festivities extend across the resort, including in Disneytown, where guests are invited to skate along the resort’s outdoor Wishing Star Skating Rink. This first-time offering for Disneytown will open to guests on Dec. 7.
In addition to these offerings, the entire resort will be filled with Christmas cheer and special touches designed to delight and welcome guests.
Enchanted white Christmas in Shanghai Disney Resort
Guests who have been dreaming of a white Christmas can have their dreams come true this year at Shanghai Disney Resort. Every night throughout the holiday season, guests can see a magical snowfall of fluffy, white “snowflakes” during the new “Mickey Avenue Winter Wonderland” show.
The Wishing Star Skating Rink will be located in the center of the Disneytown Christmas Market, and offer everything guests need to have a fun skating experience.
Christmas celebrations return with a new look
The popular stage show, “When We’re Together” Tree Lighting Ceremony, is back this year at the Enchanted Storybook Castle.
In the show, Olaf from “Frozen” will take guests on a holiday journey with projections of seasonal traditions on the castle’s façade. The show builds up to a tree-lighting ceremony, where the park’s Christmas tree comes to life with lights and music.
Festive decorations can be found all along Mickey Avenue, as storefronts, lampposts, and rooftops have been decked out with garlands, ornaments, wreaths, and traditional red bows.
This year, Mickey and Minnie and all their friends will be dressed up in brand-new Christmas outfits, ready to spread the holiday spirit throughout the resort. Each morning, guests can join Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and the Shanghai Disneyland Band with “Happy Holidays Mickey!” Guests can enjoy “Christmas Swing” later on in the day, a holiday-themed show filled with songs and Disney pals.
On weekdays, guests can meet Santa Goofy along Mickey Avenue and snap holiday photos together.

Sweethearts Confectionary will feature holiday-themed candy apples, which are perfect for snacking on while watching the tree-lighting ceremony or while strolling through Mickey Avenue.
Holiday fun at Disneytown and the Resort Hotels
Guests will be welcomed into Disneytown with a shimmering Christmas tree on the Marketplace Stage, as well as holiday garlands throughout Spice Alley and Broadway Boulevard.
The magic will continue on the Christmas tree trail, where eight trees will be decorated and themed to Disney characters. On Fridays – Sundays, Mickey Mouse will make a special appearance in Disneytown, joining carolers as they host the Disneytown Tree Lighting Ceremony.
The Christmas Market also makes its return to Disneytown’s Lakeshore District this year, with a series of craft stations, food booths, and other holiday-themed activities. Roaming carolers will add to the atmosphere, and on weekends, guests can even meet Santa Claus himself.
For guests making a multi-day visit to the resort, the two themed hotels are offering a fun holiday stay.
Shanghai Disneyland Hotel will greet guests with a Christmas tree and beautiful decorations throughout the entrance and lobby, and feature a meet-and-greet with Christmas Goofy, as well as visits from roaming carolers.
Guests can choose from a variety of themed rooms with decorations inspired by Christmas Mickey and Minnie, Duffy and friends, or “Frozen.” Each room features its own holiday elements, like snow globes, children’s stationery sets, plush, fleece throws and more.
Toy Story Hotel is also getting in on the fun, with its own toy-themed Christmas tree and decorations throughout the lobby. Here, guests can enjoy many gift-inspired activities, including gift-wrapping and a Christmas Magical Passing.
Both hotels will offer themed drinks, desserts, and other holiday treats throughout all of their restaurants and food service locations.
