The fall season is in full swing at Shanghai Disney Resort with several months packed with festivities celebrating Halloween, Disney Villains, Duffy and Friends, and the popular national holiday Golden Week. There’s a lot to celebrate and plenty of chances to dress up as favorite characters as the weather turns milder and cooler.

Duffy Month

Running Sept. 1-30, 2022, Duffy Month shows off everything Duffy and Friends throughout the park, including decorations on Mickey Avenue, character meet and greets and photo opportunities, miniature “sets” on Minnie Lane for posing with your favorite plush, and plenty of special food, drink, and merchandise offerings.

Duffy Month also celebrates new character LinaBell’s first anniversary with the Mickey floral arrangement at the park’s entrance fashioned into a LinaBell design. The entry portal show will also feature LinaBell, and throughout the day Duffy and Friends will join Mickey and Minnie in greeting guests throughout the park.

As for exclusive food and merchandise, there will be new dishes at the Duffy Weekend Brunch, the Duffy Afternoon Tea, and the Duffy-themed hotel buffet. There’s also a chance to learn how to make sweet Duffy-themed lollipops during the Weekend Junior Chef Cooking Session.

At CookieAnn Bakery cafe there are desserts inspired by each of the seven characters, including raspberry jelly white chocolate mousse sphere, dark cherry jelly chocolate mousse cake, and dark chocolate tart.

That’s all on top of the smorgasbord of other Duffy and Friends-themed treats and the fun CookieAnn and LinaBell popcorn buckets.

Then comes the Mid-Autumn Festival, which will feature a special StellaLou CookieAnn Mooncake and new Chinese outfits for CookieAnn and LinaBell – which will be available in collectible plush forms.

Beyond the park, hotel guests can find Duffy and Friends-themed souvenirs in their rooms, and families can enjoy special activities for Duffy Month at the Mickey Mouse Playhouse.

Golden Week

To celebrate one of the longest public holidays of the year, Shanghai Disney Resort will have special festivities for China’s Golden Week.

In China, Golden Week runs Oct. 1-7, 2022, and encourages domestic tourism and travel during one of the most pleasant and beautiful times of the year.

From Oct. 1-3 at Shanghai Disney Resort, there will be a special projection on the castle to celebrate the holiday. This projection will still be visible during the nighttime show, “Illuminate! A Nighttime Celebration.”

Shanghai Disney Resort celebrates Golden Week from Oct. 1-7.

Halloween and Disney Villains

Shanghai Disney Resort will transform into something a little spookier from Oct. 4-Nov. 4.

During this month, guests can dress up as their favorite characters while taking in a slew of Halloween decorations – from spider-web tangles, social photo opp walls, and a Donald Duck floral to Mickey and friends joining with Duffy and Friends to dress up in their Halloween best.

Then there’s the arrival of the Disney Villains, who will appear on the Castle balcony to wave to fans. When the sun goes down, Donald’s Halloween Treat Cavalcade returns and the Tomorrowland Pepsi E-Stage will light up for the “This Is Halloween” dance party.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Halloween at Shanghai Disney Resort without ghost pirates, which will return to Treasure Cove to haunt the Shipwreck Store.

The Halloween season culminates with the four-day Spook-tacular Extravaganza from Oct. 28-31. During this event, certain areas of the park will transform into spooky party zones to watch the signature “Disney Villains” show. There will also be meet and greets with characters like Lotso, Evil Queen, and even Loki.

Other Halloween festivities:

  • “Coco”-themed area returns to Adventure Isle with a sing-along with Miguel: Oct. 11 – Nov. 11
  • Special Halloween treats and merchandise at CookieAnn Bakery Cafe, pumpkin ice cream, and new fall merchandise collectibles featuring Chip ‘n’ Dale and other Disney characters
  • Disneytown brings back the holiday market (starting Oct. 14), the Halloween Tour dress-up workshop, and the Trick-or-Treat parade.
