Silver Dollar City sends off Fire In the Hole coaster with farewell season
Silver Dollar City will close its indoor roller coaster, Fire In the Hole, at the end of the park’s 2023 season.

Silver Dollar City in Branson, Mo. will open for the 2023 season on March 11, 2023 — just in time for spring break. This year will be the last chance for longtime guests and new visitors alike to experience Fire In the Hole, a park signature for over 50 years. The coaster, which opened in 1972, will permanently close when the park concludes its season at the end of December.
“This Grand Finale season of the original Fire In the Hole is paving the way for continued growth and new adventures at Silver Dollar City,” said Brad Thomas, president of Silver Dollar City Attractions. “There will be exciting announcements in the future!”

The park didn’t announce any specific replacement, but promises “unprecedented growth slated for the next ten years.” Management also teased special events themed around the classic coaster throughout Silver Dollar City’s 2023 calendar.
Farewell to a Classic
Fire In the Hole places rides in the role of volunteer firefighters called to save a town from flames.

“More than 25 million guests have been entertained by the Fire In the Hole adventure since the attraction opened a half-century ago,” said Thomas. “Today’s riders include grandparents who remember riding when THEY were kids, and now they share the fun and unique experience with THEIR grandkids!”
