Silver Dollar City announces Mystic River Falls raft ride for summer 2020
Silver Dollar City made an exciting announcement this morning via Facebook Live, in which they revealed Mystic River Falls, a new water raft ride opening next summer with the “tallest drop in the Western Hemisphere”.
The announcement also shared new details on a highly-themed area and dining experience to go along with the new raft ride.
This $23 million investment will take guests on a river adventure themed to the history of the Marvel Cave, which was the start for Silver Dollar City 60 years ago. Riders will splash through almost a half-mile scenic journey, taking on hairpin turns, high tides, and a hidden mine shaft on this 5+ minute ride.
Highlights of the new attraction will include:
- 82-foot-tall lift tower – Adventurers will ascend a more than 8-story lift tower, which will be unique to this ride and be the only one like it in the world to go up so high.
- More than 6-story elevated river channel – The rafts will connect to an elevated river channel that will be suspended 66 feet high in the air, and travel along its 180 feet in length.
- 4.5-story waterfall finale – Riders will race down and through the ride’s queue building for the grand finale, a 4.5-story drop. This makes Mystic River Falls have the tallest raft ride drop in the Western Hemisphere.
Mystic River Falls will be the cornerstone attraction in a new themed area of the park called Rivertown, where 1880s townsfolk can be found taking part in a great celebration that represents the park’s Diamond Jubilee. The land will feature a new dining location called Rivertown Smokehouse, which will serve the park’s famous BBQ along with new favorites. The restaurant will seat 450 guests along the banks of the Mystic River.
Silver Dollar City’s 60th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee will start in March of 2020, with an Anniversary Celebration to follow on the weekend of May 1, 2020. Mystic River Falls will open during the summer 2020 season.
