Six Flags Discovery Kingdom debuts its most terrifying Fright Fest ever

Fright Fest will be more intense and immersive than ever before when it takes over Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, Calif. on select nights from September 24-October 31, 2022.

With its lineup of five horrifying houses, three scare zones, two shows, an all-new area, and seven “supernatural transformations” of select rides within the park, the annual Halloween event will leave no tombstone unturned.

Guests must purchase a Fright Fest ticket package (separate from general park admission) to enter the section of the park in which the event will take place, which allows them access to transformed rides, live entertainment, and extended hours in the park.

Returning from the dead is the event’s icon, Maim. As legend has it, her husband was looking to ease his loneliness by resurrecting his deceased wife, only to find she’s far more interested in partying and taunting the living. Maim is dead-set on creating Maimhem at the Dead Man’s Party across from Fright Fest.

Guests who prefer friendly over frightening can visit Six Flags Discover Kingdom during the day each Saturday and Sunday through October 30 (plus Monday, Oct. 10) for Kid’s Boo Fest and Oktoberfest, both of which are included with park admission.

Kid’s Boo Fest features a trick-or-treat trail, mirror maze, and Halloween themed animal shows.

Oktoberfest serves up specialty foods and drinks, for a limited time.

“We are incredibly excited to unleash an all-new Fright Fest that ups the scare factor for our guests,” said Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Park General Manager Dameon Nelson. “Six Flags is about creating fun and thrilling memories, while providing an exceptional guest experience, and this year’s edition of Fright Fest will be no different. When you add the family-friendly offering of Kid’s Boo Fest during the daytime and the special food and beverage options that are part of Oktoberfest, there won’t be a better place to celebrate the Fall season in Northern California.”

Fright Fest runs on September: 24, 25, and 30, and October: 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 16, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, and 31. It is a separately ticketed event that requires advance reservation for admission.

Some of the haunted attractions require an extra fee, and the event is not recommended for ages 12 and under.
