Six Flags Fiesta Texas is getting a werewolf-themed coaster unlike anything else in the world
Six Flags Fiesta Texas has announced Werewolf Gorge, a new first-of-its-kind family launch roller coaster debuting in 2027 for the park’s 35th anniversary season.

The Vekoma coaster will be the world’s longest family launch coaster and the longest coaster in Six Flags Fiesta Texas history, stretching 4,120 feet through the park’s quarry setting. Werewolf Gorge will feature four launches, a mid-course rollback, 32 floater airtime moments, speeds up to 45 mph and a 39-inch height requirement.
Werewolf Gorge coming to Six Flags Fiesta Texas
The new coaster places guests inside a mysterious Texas quarry tied to a centuries-old werewolf curse. What begins as a guided tour aboard a rugged mining train turns into a high-speed escape through quarry walls, pine groves and immersive scenic elements.
Ride elements will include:
- Four launches
- A 40-foot drop
- An 85-foot elevation change
- 32 floater airtime moments
- Near-miss moments with werewolf figures
- A finale through a crumbling quarry structure with glowing eyes and shadowy movement
“This is a defining addition to Six Flags Fiesta Texas,” said Robert Bustle, park manager at Six Flags Fiesta Texas. “Werewolf Gorge brings together storytelling, innovation and a bold combination of ride elements that truly sets it apart. It delivers an experience that is approachable for families, yet unmatched anywhere in the world.”

A rugged mining train is a common theme park ride theme, like in the case of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Magic Kingdom.
A new cryptid-themed story world
Werewolf Gorge will be part of a new story world centered on Jasper Bunyan, an eccentric entrepreneur who turns a forgotten quarry into a roadside attraction filled with cryptid lore.
The themed queue will include the Museum of Cryptids and Werewolf Museum, expanding the attraction’s story before guests board the coaster.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas had teased the project with full moon activations around the park beginning in 2025. The coaster was officially revealed in the late evening hours of May 30, 2026 during a presentation timed to a rare blue full moon, followed by a drone display forming the new attraction’s logo.

Fans are comparing Werewolf Gorge to Epic Universe’s Curse of the Werewolf
Almost immediately after the announcement, theme park fans began drawing comparisons between Werewolf Gorge and Curse of the Werewolf at Universal’s Epic Universe.
At first glance, the similarities are easy to spot. Both attractions center on werewolf mythology, feature family-friendly thrill levels, and send riders racing through outdoor environments while encountering towering werewolf figures along the way. Both also blend coaster thrills with story-driven experiences, using themed environments and elaborate scenery to build suspense before and during the ride.
While Curse of the Werewolf has a dark carnival atmosphere tied to Dark Universe, Werewolf Gorge creates an original story centered on a mysterious Texas quarry, cryptid museums, and the legend of Jasper Bunyan. The result appears to be a much larger-scale family coaster experience that combines storytelling, launches, and airtime in a way not currently found on another attraction.
Werewolf Gorge will open in 2027 as part of Six Flags Fiesta Texas’ 35th anniversary season.
