For the first time since the opening of Disneyland Paris in 1992, the park’s Sleeping Beauty Castle will soon undergo a major refurbishment, starting in January 2021.
Walt Disney Imagineering and Construction teams have been preparing for two years to ensure that the castle is carefully refurbished. Tracy Eck, artistic director for Disneyland park at Disneyland Paris, explained that the teams have surrounded themselves with the best craftsmen in France for the project: “For the roofs, for example, we will work with the craftsmen who also work on historical monuments.”
During the refurbishment, a themed scrim will cover the castle to represent the icon and still offer guests the chance to have it appear in photos. Guests will also still be able to go through Sleeping Beauty Castle to access Fantasyland from Main Street, U.S.A. or access the stores inside the castle during the refurbishment.
Stay tuned for more updates as refurbishment begins on Disneyland Paris’ iconic castle!
