‘Halloweentown’ documentary now streaming
The documentary “The Spirit of Halloweentown” shows how locals and tourists celebrate, or complain about, how a Disney Channel Original Movie put their town in Oregon on the map.

In 1998, the Disney Channel Original Movie called “Halloweentown” aired for the first time. A generation of kids fell in love. Many, now adults, still rewatch it every Halloween. This movie was filmed in the small town of St. Helens, Ore. As the movie grew in popularity and gained a cult following, many fans decided they wanted to visit the filming location.
As a result, the town decided to jump in on the fun and capitalize on it. “The Spirit of Halloweentown” documentary shows how the town has reacted to its claim to fame. Many people take part in the fun from dressing up, creating haunted spaces, zombie dancing, telling ghost stories, and more. However, not everyone is a fan of Halloween or “Halloweentown.”
