Square Enix to open first U.S. café in Los Angeles, second location planned for Tokyo
Square Enix has announced plans to open its first official café in the United States, with a new permanent Cafe & Shop location coming to Los Angeles in Spring 2026. A second location is also planned for Shinjuku, Tokyo.
According to the company, both venues will feature café menus inspired by multiple Square Enix franchises, along with adjoining retail spaces offering official merchandise. Square Enix said the Los Angeles location will mark the first time an official Square Enix café with a full menu has opened in the U.S.
The Los Angeles venue will be located at 316 E 1st St., placing it in the city’s Little Tokyo district. The Tokyo location will open inside PASELABO TOWER in Shinjuku.
Square Enix is known worldwide for popular game franchises including Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts, and NieR. While the company has previously operated limited-time themed cafés and collaborations, these newly announced permanent locations signal a larger investment in destination dining and retail experiences for fans.
The announcement also reflects continued interest in location-based gaming experiences, joining exhibits such as ESL Digital Worlds: Level Up at The Strong National Museum of Play, which Attractions Magazine previously covered.
Specific opening dates and additional details for both locations will be announced later.
These newly announced permanent locations continue a trend of video game-themed dining experiences in the U.S. Attractions Magazine previously covered the first-ever Angry Birds café in New York City, which has since closed.
