When “Hamilton” became popular a few years ago, I avoided listening to the soundtrack and reading spoilers for as long as I could – so if I ever got the chance to see it, I would be blown away.
Lin-Manuel Miranda is currently costarring as Jack in “Mary Poppins Returns”, the holiday family musical from Walt Disney Pictures. But the Tony-winning composer’s latest role is far from Miranda’s first encounter with the Mouse. During a recent press event in Miami on the day of Mary Poppins Returns‘s release, our reporter participated in a roundtable discussion where Lin-Manuel Miranda shared his thoughts about a number of other Disney-related movies, including “Moana”, “The Little Mermaid”, and “Guardians of the Galaxy”.
As soon as I saw Emily Blunt was playing the lead in “Mary Poppins Returns,” I was worried that no one could ever do Julie Andrews’ original version of the character justice. My worries were completely washed away as soon as I saw Blunt in action. I barely questioned for a moment that this was truly Mary Poppins.
Disney released the official trailer for “Mary Poppins Returns” this morning on “Good Morning, America,” and from the looks of it, this new tale seems to have just as much magic as the original.
