‘The Most Magical Story on Earth: 50 Years of Walt Disney World’ airing Oct. 1 on ABC

ABC News and Disney Parks are teaming up for a television special you won’t want to miss, “The Most Magical Story on Earth: 50 Years of Walt Disney World.”

The special, hosted by Disney Legend Whoopi Goldberg, will take viewers on a journey through Walt Disney World’s 50-year history, as well as feature musical performances from Christina Aguilera and Halle Bailey in front of Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom, accompanied by the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra.

Throughout the special, there will also be exclusive interviews with actors, actresses and athletes, Walt Disney World cast members, Imagineers, and executives past and present who have all played a part in making this happy place the most magical.

During “The Most Magical Story on Earth,” viewers will get an expansive look into the past, present and future of the destination, with footage never before seen on television. The resort’s impact on pop culture will also be featured, with a look back at the many sitcoms that films episodes in the parks, plus the conception of the iconic phrase, “I’m going to Disney World!” The 40-year relationship between Disney and Make-A-Wish foundation will also be highlighted.

Celebrities who will make an appearance in the special include Anthony Anderson, John Stamos, Marsai Martin, Gary Sinise, Melissa Joan Hart and Candace Cameron Bure; NFL athletes Tom Brady, Phil Simms and Doug Williams; film industry creatives Kevin Feige, Pete Docter and James Cameron; Walt Disney World Imagineers including Bob Weis, Mark Kohl and Ann Morrow Johnson; and Disney executives past and present, including current CEO Bob Chapek, Executive Chairman and former CEO Bob Iger, and former CEO Michael Eisner.

“The Most Magical Story on Earth: 50 Years of Walt Disney World” airs Friday, Oct. 1 from 8-10 p.m. on ABC. If you don’t have cable or miss the broadcast, you can view the special the following day on demand and on Hulu, and later on in the month on Disney+.
