5 things to know before seeing ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore’
“Avengers: Endgame” is returning to theaters with new footage, a preview of “Avengers: Doomsday” and different experiences depending on where audiences see it.
“Avengers: Endgame Encore” opens Friday, Sept. 25, with preview screenings beginning Sept. 24 at some theaters. The updated presentation arrives nearly seven years after the original movie concluded Marvel Studios’ Infinity Saga.
Before assembling at the theater again, here are five things to know about the rerelease.
1. It includes new footage
“Avengers: Endgame Encore” adds material that was not included in the movie’s original 2019 theatrical release. The original “Avengers: Endgame” has a runtime of approximately 181 minutes. Listings for “Endgame Encore” vary based on the presentation.
According to runtimes listed by the British Board of Film Classification, the standard presentation runs 183 minutes and 3 seconds, while the Infinity Vision version runs 186 minutes and 14 seconds. U.S. runtimes may vary by theater and format.
The new material connects the conclusion of “Endgame” to Marvel Studios’ next major crossover movie, “Avengers: Doomsday.”
Marvel fans have been waiting for over two years for this moment, but perhaps the biggest moment of anticipation came from the big reveal of Robert Downey Jr. starring as Dr. Doom.
2. Not every screening includes the same material
Moviegoers should check the listed format before purchasing tickets. Regular screenings and select premium presentations do not include identical versions of “Endgame Encore.”
Standard screenings contain roughly two additional minutes. Select IMAX and Infinity Vision presentations run approximately five minutes longer than the original movie and include an expanded look at “Avengers: Doomsday.”

3. ‘Endgame Encore’ introduces Infinity Vision
“Avengers: Endgame Encore” is the first movie released through Disney’s Infinity Vision program.
Infinity Vision identifies premium auditoriums that meet Disney’s requirements. Infinity Vision is a certification for existing premium large-format auditoriums. According to the program’s official FAQ, qualifying theaters must have a screen at least 45 feet wide, immersive audio or 7.1-channel sound, and brightness reaching 14 foot-lamberts for 2D presentation or 6 foot-lamberts for 3D. Disney describes the resulting experience as offering “big screens, bright images and outstanding sound.”
The certification gives audiences another label to consider alongside IMAX, Dolby Cinema, ScreenX, 4DX and theater-specific premium formats.
Guests should look for the Infinity Vision designation when reviewing local showtimes if they desire to have such an experience.

4. Joe Russo calls it ‘required viewing’ before ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
“Endgame” and “Doomsday” co-director Joe Russo has described “Endgame Encore” as “required viewing” before the next Avengers movie.
The comment has created two distinct reactions among Marvel followers. The approach offers returning audiences a first look at “Doomsday,” though some moviegoers may be frustrated that the longest presentation is limited to select premium screenings.

“Avengers: Doomsday” opens Dec. 18. The movie brings Robert Downey Jr. back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Doom and assembles characters connected to the Avengers, Fantastic Four and X-Men.
5. Plan for more than three hours at the theater
Even without trailers and advertisements, “Avengers: Endgame Encore” lasts more than three hours. The longest premium presentation runs approximately three hours and six minutes.

An “Avengers: Endgame” Nano Gauntlet popcorn bucket is also coming
Regal, Cinemark, and other theaters are releasing a Nano Gauntlet collectible popcorn container inspired by the gauntlet Tony Stark uses during the final battle.
The container arrives at participating theaters Sept. 24 and will be available while supplies last. Additionally, a light-up Iron Man helmet popcorn container inspired by Tony Stark’s Mark 85 armor will be among the “Avengers: Endgame Encore” collectibles offered by Cinemark.
