Tiana’s Bayou Adventure queue tour with hidden details
While you wait in line for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the queue reveals what Tiana’s been up to after the events of “The Princess and the Frog.”

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure officially opens June 28, 2024 at Magic Kingdom Park in Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Fla. The attraction is sure to be popular and command long wait times, but there’s a lot to look at while you wait in line.

Look for green boxes like this one throughout this story to discover hidden details we spotted in the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure queue. Imagineers placed references to Disney history and easy-to-miss new information about Tiana’s past.

Arriving to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
The queue for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure takes place in Tiana’s Foods, a business created and owned by Princess Tiana and operated from a (fictional) repurposed salt mine near New Orleans.

Whether you’re approaching the attraction from Frontierland or arriving via the Walt Disney World Railroad, Princess Tiana and the employees of Tiana’s Foods are glad you’re here.

Garden
The queue begins in an outdoor outdoor garden area. Throughout this plaza, you’ll see the children’s garden, birdhouses, and a vintage delivery vehicle, reminding us “The Princess and the Frog” takes place in the 1920s.

From the outdoor garden area, you can get a good look at the mural displayed on the exterior of the Tiana’s Foods barn. The mural was created by artist Malaika Favorite just for this attraction.

Tiana’s Office
As you enter the barn housing Tiana’s Foods, you’ll step into an office belonging to Tiana herself. Props throughout this space help convey the personality of not only Tiana, but of her business. We get a glimpse into the community Tiana’s Foods facilitates, thriving under Tiana’s leadership.

On a table sits an issue of the New Orleans Business Journal, the headline of which reads, “Princess Tiana throws Mardi Gras party for all of New Orleans.” The front-page story’s subheading declares, “Everybody’s welcome!” This effectively sets the foundation for our journey to come.

A bulletin board nearby displays various notes and posters; some seem to be reminders to employees while others are letters to the proprietors from their customers. From these details we learn more about Tiana’s Foods. The organization hosts free cooking classes for kids, Tiana treats employees to beignets on Wednesdays, and a local radio station booked Tiana, Naveen, and Louis for an appearance.

The bulletin board in Tiana’s office is filled with hidden references:
– Someone named “Eric G.” wrote a letter to Louis, which is displayed on the bulletin board. This is a tribute to Eric Goldberg, supervising animator of Louis during production of “The Princess and the Frog.”
– One poster promotes a gig for Louis’ band, Firefly Five Plus Lou. This name, carried over from the finale scene of “The Princess and the Frog,” references the Firehouse Five Plus Two, a band comprised of Walt Disney Animation Studios artists which performed at Disneyland during the park’s early years.
– The art style of the poster advertising cooking classes matches the paper-like animation style seen during the “Almost There” musical sequence in “The Princess and the Frog.”
Tiana’s Family
Emerging from Tiana’s office, you’ll pass through a hallway flanked by “photos” and mementos from Tiana’s youth and early adulthood. You may notice family portraits, awards for various cooking achievements, and more.

James, Tiana’s late father, may be fictional, but Imagineers grounded the character’s military service with historical truth, expanding the veteran’s story beyond the details provided in “The Princess and the Frog.”
From the portraits displayed in the hallways of Tiana’s Foods, we learn James served in one of the American Expeditionary Forces’ first African American regiments — the 369th during World War I.
“This unit was renowned for its bravery and many members were awarded the prestigious Croix de Guerre medal by the French government for their valiant service in action,” Cappy Surette, senior manager of communications at Disney Experiences, wrote on the Disney Parks Blog.

Kitchen
Next, you’ll walk through a kitchen area. An employee of Tiana’s Foods must have just been here, because fresh beignets are on the table and various ingredients and still strewn about.

A chalkboard on the wall displays a message from Tiana: “Don’t forget! Celebration at my house, tonight! Everybody’s welcome! See you there!”

The Story of Tiana’s Foods
Another hallway area displays framed pictures and newspaper articles tracing the (fictional) history of Tiana’s Foods, from its humble beginnings in 1927 to booming operations “today” (an unspecified amount of time later, but around this same era).

Look closely at some of the literature displayed on the walls throughout Tiana’s Foods. A certificate reveals the princess’ full name: Tiana Rogers!
“The [Tiana’s Foods] endeavor began when Tiana purchased the salt mine and the area surrounding the large salt dome it operated from,” Kevin Rafferty, communications manager at Disney Experiences, wrote on the Disney Parks Blog in 2023. “With the help of her mother Eudora, Naveen, Louis, and fellow owners of the cooperative, Tiana revived the old salt mine and the surrounding land, growing a wide array of vegetables, herbs, and spices for her recipes.”
Salt Mines
The final portion of the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure queue before boarding your ride vehicle is the salt mine corridor. Rock work abounds, and much of this space appears in its “natural” state, separate from the Tiana’s Foods offices.

Above you, a TV monitor presents a safety video with instructions for boarding your log. Kind messages border the screen: “Thank you for looking out for each other!” “We are stronger together!” “All are welcome!”

You have one last chance to exit, in case you’d rather stay dry.

Make sure to “help keep our bayou clean” by disposing of any trash prior to boarding.
