The all-new interactive water playground will feature three giant buckets dumping over 1,325 gallons of water, four waterslides, and 106 new spray and play elements, including geysers, water cannons, and waterspouts. Tikitapu Splash will be located next to Whanau Waters for the largest play area Aquatica has to offer.

“We’re excited to make a big splash with the all-new Tikitapu Splash,” said Aquatica Vice President David Skelton. “Our commitment to fun and innovation has resulted in a 15,000-square-foot water playland extravaganza that will give the entire family even more ways to get wet and have fun.”

Taking a cue from Aquatica’s theme inspired by the Māori culture of New Zealand, Tikitapu Splash is named for Lake Tikitapu (also known as Blue Lake), one of four small lakes in the Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand’s North Island. In Māori history, Tikitapu is a sacred necklace believed to have been lost in the lake by the daughter of a high-ranking chief.

New Thrills Also Coming to San Antonio in 2024

In addition to the all-new Tikitapu Splash coming to Aquatica San Antonio, SeaWorld San Antonio is set to open Catapult Falls as the world’s first launched flume coaster.

With a state-of-the-art elevator, a 53-degree drop, and speeds of 30 feet per second, the first-of-its-kind ride offers the thrill of high speeds with the floating and coasting of a boat on a river.
