The resort’s grand opening will be held on Sept. 20, 2021, and will mark the official opening of Universal Studios Beijing theme park, two resort hotels, and Universal CityWalk Beijing. After the grand opening, guests will enter Universal Studios Beijing with a ticket, while Universal CityWalk Beijing is accessible without admission; capacity will be monitored and controlled in accordance with the pandemic prevention requirement.

Universal Studios Beijing will be the largest Universal Studios park to date, offering 37 rides and attractions in seven themed lands, plus 24 shows and performances in the resort throughout the day.

The themed lands include The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness, Hollywood, WaterWorld, Transformers: Metrobase, Minion Land, and Jurassic World Isla Nublar. Each land will offer rides, immersive experiences, live shows, retail offerings, and themed food and beverage locations. The resort’s main areas will be connected by a waterway.

Trial operations will take place from Sept. 1-19, and tickets for this period will not be sold to the general public and cannot be transferred. Universal Beijing warns guests to be wary of fraudulent ticket sales for this timeframe.

As the grand opening approaches, Universal Beijing Resort will monitor the developments of the pandemic, and adjust opening activities and preparations “in a timely and appropriate manner.” If necessary, the grand opening date will be adjusted and guests will be informed about any rescheduling in advance.

A series of health and safety measures have been put in place across the resort, and guests are encouraged to comply with providing verification of Health Code and temperature checks at park entry; wear masks and keep socially distant throughout their visit; bring disinfectant tissues and backup masks; change masks over time; and those traveling from high- and medium-risk areas should follow government guidelines in regards to travel restrictions, mandatory quarantines and testing requirements before entering the resort. More details on the safety guidelines in place can be found here.
