Universal Kids Resort hotel: what families can expect in Texas

Universal built its newest destination with younger families in mind—and that extends beyond the theme park itself. The Universal Kids Resort Hotel serves as the primary on-site accommodation in Frisco, Texas, offering a stay designed to match the scale, energy and needs of families visiting the park.

A hotel designed for younger families

Opened on July 1, 2026, the hotel is an extension of the overall experience, blending immersive theming with practical features parents will appreciate.

Expect an approachable layout, with shorter walking distances and a simplified footprint. The overall design makes it easier for families to navigate without the overwhelm of a large, sprawling resort.

Universal shared a look at one of the rooms in an Instagram post below, on June 15, 2026.

Theming that extends beyond the park

Universal’s promotion of the Universal Kids Resort Hotel shows that storytelling continues into the hotel environment, carrying the same spirit found inside the park’s lands.

The rooms are bright, colorful, and feature design elements that take inspiration from the theme park’s lineup of characters. The franchises inside the park include DreamWorks, SpongeBob SquarePants, Illumination’s Minions, and Jurassic World.

Family-friendly rooms and amenities

The Universal Kids Resort hotel focuses heavily on functionality for families traveling together.

Some of the features include:

  • Room configurations designed for parents and children to share comfortably
  • Kid-friendly design elements built into the space
  • Curiosity Café quick-service open for all meal periods
  • Full-service bar, outdoor pool, and a game room

The pool is zero-entry, which is great for young kids. However, the pool does not have any big features like a slide. The focus is on the theme park’s multiple splash areas, like the one inside Shrek’s Swamp.

The Standard Queen room serves as the most compact option at 288 square feet, featuring one queen bed alongside a twin-over-full bunk bed setup that maximizes sleeping space while maintaining an open, cheerful atmosphere with bright décor and a kid-friendly bathroom. Priced around $320 per night, plus tax and Frisco PID Fee.

Stepping up in size, the Deluxe Queen expands to 314 square feet and adds additional living space for families needing a bit more room to spread out while still maintaining the same core sleeping configuration and playful design elements. Priced around $350 per night, plus tax and Frisco PID Fee.

For larger groups or travelers seeking upgraded comfort, the Signature Queen increases the footprint to 424 square feet and introduces a more spacious bathroom layout with a separate toilet area, helping make busy family mornings more manageable. Priced around $415 per night, plus tax and Frisco PID Fee.

The largest accommodation option, the Family Suite, spans 486 square feet and is designed for extended stays or bigger families, featuring a private bedroom with a king bed, a bunk bed area for children, a queen pull-out sofa, expanded living room space, and a kid-friendly bathroom. Priced around $440 per night, plus tax and Frisco PID Fee.

Across all room categories, the resort prioritizes bold colors, whimsical décor, and flexible sleeping arrangements intended to make the hotel feel like part of the vacation experience rather than simply a place to sleep.

Universal’s approach here appears to balance immersive fun with the practical needs that can make or break a family trip.

Steps from the park for easy access

One of the biggest advantages of staying at the Universal Kids Resort Hotel is its proximity to the theme park.

The hotel is adjacent to the park, allowing families to walk between their room and main the entrance. This setup makes it much easier to take midday breaks for rest or naps and recover from the overstimulation.

Plus, there are two key benefits:

  • Early Park Admission: one hour before the park opens (valid theme park admission required. Select Lands/Attractions.)
  • Shopping Made Simple: Shop at stores in Universal Kids Resort, which can be delivered directly to your Universal Kids Resort hotel, free of charge.

For families with younger kids, that level of convenience can be just as valuable as the attractions themselves.
