When Universal announced a Minions experience for its first family-focused park, many fans might have expected a scaled-down simulator. Instead, Bello Bay Club offers a sloshing boat ride, splash play area, and a zany golf-themed ride.

What is Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club?

Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club is a Minions-themed area at Universal Kids Resort inspired by a chaotic beach vacation hosted by Illumination’s mischievous yellow characters. Families can board the Bello Bay Cruise boat ride, cool off in interactive splash zones, encounter vacation-ready Minions, and explore a colorful waterfront setting filled with playful details and surprises.

The vacation Minions make a theme park debut for Universal Kids Resort. The idea of Minions on holiday has appeared before in Illumination’s 2021 “Saturday Morning Minions” short “Mini Vacation.”

Ride: Bello Bay Cruise

At the center of Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club is ‘Bello Bay Cruise,’ a family-friendly water ride that drops guests into the middle of a chaotic showdown between Yellow Minions and Purple Minions.

According to Universal, the rival Minions have turned Bello Bay into a splash-filled battleground, with riders braving the rapids to see which side is gaining the upper hand. Families should also prepare to get wet— it’s all part of the fun.

Height requirement

  • Minimum height: 40 inches (102 cm)
  • Supervising companion required: Children under 48 inches must ride with a supervising companion.

A 40-inch height requirement places ‘Bello Bay Cruise’ among the higher height requirements for attractions at Universal Kids Resort. For many children, it could serve as a first “big kid” water ride while still offering enough interactive fun for the entire family to enjoy together.

Bello Bay Golf Cart Derby

The Minions’ beachside rivalry continues at ‘Bello Bay Golf Cart Derby,’ a kid-friendly attraction that puts families behind the wheel of their own golf carts. What should have been a relaxing day on the links has been thrown into chaos thanks to the Purple Minions, sending riders spinning through a competition that quickly gets out of control.

Height requirement

  • Minimum height: 36 inches (92 cm)
  • Supervising companion required: Children under 48 inches must ride with a supervising companion.

With a 36-inch height requirement, ‘Bello Bay Golf Cart Derby’ is one of the more accessible rides at Universal Kids Resort. The lower height minimum means many preschool-aged guests will be able to join the fun.

Minions-themed play area

In addition to its two rides, Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club has an interactive splash play area overlooking ‘Bello Bay Cruise.’ Based on concept art and video released by Universal, the space is relatively small with a few water elements in a colorful beach club setting. Positioned near the water ride, the play area gives children another way to stay engaged while siblings ride, families wait nearby, or kids simply need time to run, climb, and explore.

Although Universal has not yet released an official name or specific details about the experience, the area appears designed with younger guests in mind. The elevated vantage point overlooking ‘Bello Bay Cruise’ could make it one of the best places in the land to watch the Yellow and Purple Minions’ water battle unfold below. So far, it does not appear that there is a dry playground in this area, like there is at Shrek’s Swamp.

I am visiting Universal Kids Resort with my son soon and will certainly report back.

Families can brave the splashes of Bello Bay Cruise, spin through the chaos of Bello Bay Golf Cart Derby, explore interactive play spaces, and meet some of Illumination’s most mischievous characters along the way. Universal has confirmed character greetings with Minions, so be prepared for silly photos. With rides, water play and character experiences all in one area, Bello Bay Club is a splashy spot to break up the day.
