Universal Kids Resort or Peppa Pig Theme Park? Which Texas park is right for your child?

Families in North Texas now have two theme parks designed specifically for younger children. The challenge is not deciding which park is better — it’s deciding which park is better for your child’s age. In this article, we will compare the features of both parks to help illustrate which park is best for which age.

Universal Kids Resort vs or Peppa Pig Theme Park

Families in North Texas now have two theme parks designed specifically for younger children, but they are aimed at different stages of childhood.

After visiting Universal Kids Resort in Frisco and spending time at Peppa Pig Theme Park in Florida — which is nearly identical to the Texas location — I would recommend Peppa Pig Theme Park for most children ages 2 to 4 and Universal Kids Resort for many children ages 5 to 8.

There is certainly some overlap, but the parks are designed for different points in a child’s theme park journey.

Peppa Pig Theme Park is built for preschoolers

Peppa Pig Theme Park keeps things simple. The park is small enough to experience comfortably in a day, and nearly every attraction is designed with preschool-aged children in mind.

The rides are gentle and straightforward. Several involve slow-moving vehicles, small drops, or simple spinning elements. There are playgrounds, splash areas, and opportunities for children to run, climb, and explore between attractions.

For younger children, those qualities are strengths. The entire park operates at a pace that feels manageable for families with toddlers and preschoolers. And when my song was a preschooler, we loved this place!

That simplicity also shapes the overall experience. Much of the park consists of outdoor attractions connected by wide concrete pathways. Character statues and themed details help bring the world of Peppa Pig to life, but there are no large-scale animatronics, elaborate dark rides, or highly themed indoor environments.

Universal Kids Resort expands the experience

Universal Kids Resort offers a larger collection of attractions, characters, and themed environments. The park’s seven lands draw from SpongeBob SquarePants, Shrek, Trolls, Jurassic World, Minions, and Gabby’s Dollhouse, creating a wider variety of experiences than a single-IP park can provide.

Many of the rides remain accessible to younger guests, but they generally feel designed for children who are ready for more than a first theme park visit. The attractions are not extreme, though for my son, most of them were too much. Most of the rides incorporate lots of spinning, too. We had a good time at Universal Kids Resort and I am thankful for the variety of shows and play areas to balance out the rides.

Children can move from a coaster to a rough raft ride, then to a character interaction, a playground, a water play area, or a live show without feeling like every attraction offers the same experience.

Which theming goes further?

One of the biggest differences is the level of theme. Peppa Pig Theme Park relies heavily on colorful scenery, recognizable locations, and character figures from the show. It is charming, but intentionally simple.

Universal Kids Resort places a greater emphasis on themed environments. The lands contain more visual detail, more interactive elements, and more opportunities for children to feel like they have stepped inside the worlds of the characters they know. Compared to the major theme parks like the ones at Universal Orlando, it is still bare-bones, but when looked through the lens of a “kiddie park,” Universal Kids Resort is right on the money.

The park also benefits from using multiple franchises. A child who has little interest in one area can often find another land that better matches their interests.

Which park is right for your family?

For toddlers and younger preschoolers, Peppa Pig Theme Park remains the stronger choice. The attractions, layout, and overall pace feel tailored to children who are experiencing theme parks for the first time.

For elementary-age children, Universal Kids Resort offers more room to grow. Children around ages 5 to 8 appear to be the park’s core audience, with some older children still finding plenty to enjoy.

Viewed side by side, the two parks feel less like direct competitors and more like consecutive steps. Families may start with Peppa Pig Theme Park and eventually reach a point where their children are ready for a park with more attractions, more characters, and more variety.

Pricing

Price may be the biggest advantage for Peppa Pig Theme Park. Advance-purchase admission starts around $24 to $26 per person (when purchased online), while Universal Kids Resort’s lowest advertised one-day ticket starts at $54.99. A family of four could spend roughly twice as much on admission at Universal Kids Resort, but the park is larger with more to do than Peppa Pig Theme Park.
