Universal Singapore headlines a ‘Groovy Summer’ with those mischievous Minions
Universal Studios Singapore is getting ready for a “Groovy Summer” with a special Minions-fueled celebration that highlights the June release of new movie “Minions 2: The Rise of Gru.”
The eagerly-anticipated animated sequel is set in the 1970s, with the young Gru dreaming of becoming the world’s greatest super-villain and teaming up with the iconic Minions for the first time.
In honor of that movie mojo, Universal Singapore—which recently unveiled its new Jurassic World Dominion dining experience—will revel in the colorful ’70s scenario for the park’s full summer season, allowing guests to soak up the positive vibes, classic hits, and psychedelic imagery of the period.
The vibrant Minions makeover will include multiple photo opportunities with the Minions in their retro threads; a chance to catch the Kung Fu Minions at Minion Fu; and a selection of Minion-themed food and drinks, as befitting the fab decade.
Universal Studios Singapore’s full “Groovy Summer” lineup is as follows:
Groovy Meet-and-Greet: Minions fans can meet the well-known trio Kevin, Stuart, and Bob, along with new character, Otto, from the latest movie. The quartet will be dressed to groove on the Lagoon Stage, and will be joined by dancers for a memorable performance.
Flower Power: Hollywood Boulevard will be the setting for the full 1970s psychedelia vibe, with a series of atmospheric backdrops for guests to step into.
Minion Fu Show: Guests can see their favorite Minions break out their unique karate moves in this special showcase at the stairs of the New York Public Library.
Psychedelic Flavors: Get a selection of tastes from the ’70s with an assortment of playful Minion-themed food and drinks at various kiosks.
The full “Groovy Summer” celebration runs from May 26 to August 14, 2022, and there is a special June holidays package offer, available from May 26 to June 26, at S$98 ($70 U.S.) per adult and S$88 ($63) per child (4-12). This includes:
