It really is a Mega Movie Summer worth celebrating at Universal Studios Hollywood with two notable anniversaries and more. Here’s a look at the festivities happening now through Aug. 10, 2025, at the California theme park.
The 1975 movie “Jaws” was the first summer blockbuster and it made Steven Spielberg the hit film director we know him as today. During the film’s 50th anniversary, Universal Studios Hollywood brings guests new character meet & greets, specialty merchandise and food, and a classic visit on their World-Famous Studio Tour with some additional 4th of July décor. (This is in addition to the “Jaws” 50th anniversary movie screenings happening nationwide.)
In 1985, movie lovers fell in love with the time traveling blockbuster, “Back to the Future.” In honor of the movie’s 40th anniversary, Universal Studios Hollywood has the iconic Time Machine along with Doc, Marty, and Einstein available for photos. There’s also special 40th anniversary merchandise and themed food to enjoy during your visit to the park.
Speaking of the future, in 2026, Universal Studios Hollywood will open its first outdoor roller coaster, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift. If you’re looking for a sneak peek, a ride vehicle is currently on display in Universal Plaza.
With “Jurassic World: Rebirth” dominating at the box office, it deserves the title of mega movie. You can now meet the lovable dino Dolores from the new movie, snap a pic at a new Spinosaurus photo op, and enjoy an even wetter Jurassic World – The Ride with new additions during Mega Movie Summer.
