Central Florida is no stranger to record-breaking entertainment, but Florida is about to add another milestone to its résumé. Downtown Clearwater (just 20 miles west of Tampa and roughly 90 minutes from Walt Disney World Resort) is set to become home to the world’s largest movie theater screen, anchoring a new family entertainment complex from EVO Entertainment.

The Cleveland Street Alliance announced the project: a two-level, 83,000-square-foot entertainment destination at the corner of Cleveland Street and Myrtle Avenue in downtown Clearwater. The $50 million privately funded development will be EVO Entertainment’s flagship location, featuring a seven-screen multiplex built around a screen more than 130 feet wide.

“We are thrilled to bring EVO Entertainment to Clearwater and be part of this once-in-a-lifetime transformation taking shape in downtown Clearwater,” said Mitch Roberts, founder & CEO of Elevate Entertainment Group.

“From a cinema worthy of the global stage to a world-class family entertainment center, EVO Entertainment Clearwater will set a new standard for out-of-home entertainment—serving as a social destination for millions of guests across the region.”

For perspective, the current world record belongs to the Traumpalast Multiplex in Leonberg, Germany, with a screen measuring 127 feet by 69 feet. The United States’ largest screen resides at AMC Lincoln Square 13 in New York City, measuring 101 feet by 75.6 feet. The Clearwater screen, at over 130 feet wide, will surpass both.

World’s largest movie screen: The first all-Dolby multiplex

Beyond the size of the flagship screen, the Clearwater venue carries another record-setting distinction. It will become the first multiplex in the world where every single auditorium is equipped with both Dolby Vision projection and Dolby Atmos sound.

Dolby Laboratories announced in April 2026 at CinemaCon that EVO Entertainment would deploy the technology across 17 EVX Premium Large Format screens at eight cinema centers across Texas, New Mexico, and Florida. Florida serves as the centerpiece of the rollout. More than 860 theatrical features have already been released or confirmed in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos formats, including 20 of the highest-grossing films worldwide in 2025.

“When you combine Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, you create something truly special: an experience audiences proactively seek out again and again,” said Jed Harmsen, VP and GM of Cinema & Group Entertainment, Dolby Laboratories.

More than movies

EVO Clearwater will bundle movies with a full lineup of family activities under one roof. Plans include bowling lanes, laser tag, an arcade, sit-down dining, and a range of hands-on interactive attractions.

The Cleveland Street Alliance frames the world’s largest movie screen project as a key component of a broader downtown revival. Alongside building-by-building historic restoration along Cleveland Street, city leaders have been adding affordable housing, streetscape improvements, and expanded programming at Coachman Park. The EVO complex, positioned at the “gateway” to the Cleveland Street corridor, is intended to anchor that activity into a sustained, high-traffic district.

An add-on to a Busch Gardens Tampa Bay visit

For visitors spending a week in the Central Florida area, EVO Entertainment Clearwater with the world’s largest movie screen, could fit into a day trip that could also include Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, roughly an hour from Orlando and about 30 minutes from Clearwater on I-275.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is in the middle of revamping the Lion & Hyena Ridge, described as its “most ambitious new habitat in more than a decade,” expanding the existing lion habitat to nearly 35,000 square feet with glass viewing areas, shaded walkways, and naturalistic water elements and rock formations for the animals. The park is also home to an AZA-accredited zoo with more than 800 animals.

Additionally, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay does not stop with just animal habitats. The park has also debuted its rebranded Food, Wine & Garden Festival (running select Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through May 10, 2026), featuring 28 food items, garden-themed topiaries and plant sculptures inspired by the park’s animals, and 20 free concerts spanning country, hip-hop, Latin, and classic rock.

The yearly schedule at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is filled with festivals and events like Howl-O-Scream.

Of course, thrill-seekers have plenty to do at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. Recent park additions continue to strengthen the attraction lineup. The Phoenix Rising family coaster opened in 2024, the Serengeti Flyer swing ride launched in 2023. Also, Iron Gwazi, the record-breaking hybrid coaster, has consistently ranked among the world’s best roller coasters since its 2022 debut.

Guests can combine a day at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay with a stop at the EVO Entertainment complex once it opens. This could lead to an enjoyable entertainment-filled single-day adventure in the entire Tampa Bay–to–Orlando corridor.

World’s largest movie screen: What we don’t know yet

Developers have not announced a construction timeline, permit schedule, or opening date as of this writing. Before ground is broken, the project will need final design approvals, city permits, and resolution of traffic and parking logistics for a venue of this size in an urban downtown setting. Attractions Magazine will continue to track the project and report on developments as they become available.
