‘A Universal Christmas’ brings new holiday experiences to Universal Studios Singapore

“A Universal Christmas” presents the world debut of “Minions 2” character, Otto, plus letters to Santa, Minion Mail, and a major prize give-away.

For the first time ever, guests can meet Otto from the upcoming Illuminations movie, “Minions 2: The Rise of Gru,” as Universal Studios Singapore kicks off its Christmas celebration.

Along with the chubby minion, characters Guy Diamond, Poppy, and Branch from DreamWorks Animation’s “Trolls” will be on-hand for meet-and-greets and a glitzy sing-along performance at Mel’s Diner Stage.

The Sesame Street area of the park has transformed into a wintery wonderland, where favorite furry friends from Sesame Street are dressed up in their holiday finery, ready to greet guests.

A Universal Christmas Elmo

Elmo and Abby Cadabby will be writing their letters to Santa, and children can join in the fun with their own letters, which the Postmaster Elf will drop into a special mailbox that sends each wish-list and greeting straight to St. Nick. Youngsters will delight in seeing their letter “fly” to the North Pole via Universal Studios Singapore’s North Pole Postal Service.

Guests can also meet minions Kevin and Stuart, who have their own “despicable” Minions Mail that sends holiday correspondence to the Jolly Old Elf. All ages will delight in watching the letters come to life through entertaining virtual reality technology.

Puss in Boots and friends

Adding to the character-fest, fans of DreamWorks Animation’s movie, Puss in Boots, can snap holiday-themed selfies with Puss, Kitty Softpaws, and Humpty Dumpty at The Milk Bar.

A Universal Christmas Rockin' Railway

For even more festive fun, check out the Universal Rockin’ Railway, where Christmas trees inspired by mega-hit franchises including “Minions,” “Jurassic Park,” and “Shrek” will illuminate Hollywood Boulevard. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet Gru, Margo, Edith, Lucy, and Agnes (“Despicable Me”), Shrek and Princess Fiona (“Shrek”), plus Cookie Monster and Oscar from “Sesame Street.”

The Christmas Train Track Trio bring a musical yuletide vibe to the railway through surprise pop-up performances.

A Universal Christmas food and beverage

From Dec. 2, 2021 through Jan. 2, 2022, visitors can stop by the Festive Market for a wide selection of gifts and holiday treats. Those with a sweet tooth can indulge in a scrumptious Christmas Cookie Tree and Festive Macaroons at the Merrylicious Sips and Bites food cart, or dig into a savory Turkey Leg for a taste of the season.

Gift-giving reaches a new level with A Universal Christmas Giveaway, in partnership with MasterCard. Participants in the giveaway have the chance to win S$20,000 (Singapore dollars; $14,588 USD) worth of gifts in Universal Studios Singapore’s weekly drawings.

Each time a guest spends S$38 ($27.71 USD) they will earn one ticket to be used in the draw. Those who pay for their purchases using a Mastercard will double their chances.

To enter, guests can drop their tickets into a special box at The Pantages Theater in Hollywood. Winners will be contacted directly, and also announced on Resorts World Sentosa’s Facebook page.

Among the prizes being awarded are stays at the resort’s Beach Villas, the Equarius Hotel, or the Hotel Michael.

“A Universal Christmas” runs from Nov. 25, 2021 – Jan. 2, 2022. “Minions 2: The Rise of Gru” will debut in cinemas in 2022.
