Arctic Rescue opened June 2, 2023, as the sixth coaster at the SoCal theme park, joining Emperor, Electric Eel, Manta, Journey to Atlantis, and Tidal Twister. The coaster’s straddle snowmobile-style ride vehicles take riders through the Arctic to help animals in danger. During their icy adventure, guests experience three launches at 34, 38, and 40 miles per hour and soar to heights up to 30 feet.

“Arctic Rescue adds a new, family-friendly thrill to the park that we’re sure guests will enjoy for years to come,” said Park President Jim Lake. “We’re excited to bring the tallest, longest straddle coaster on the west coast to San Diego and provide new, lifelong family memories for our guests. With every innovation in the park, we push our mission forward of educating guests about marine mammals while providing them unique thrills and excitement they can’t find anywhere else.”

Arctic Rescue has a 48-inch height requirement.

SeaWorld and SeaLife

Arctic Rescue (located alongside the Wild Arctic exhibit) will benefit SeaWorld’s conservation partner Alaska SeaLife Center, the only facility in Alaska that combines a public aquarium with marine research, education, and wildlife response. As guests queue to board the coaster, they will learn about SeaLife Center’s mission to help raise awareness of arctic animals, including Alaskan marine animals in need.

“The Alaska SeaLife Center is excited to expand our partnership with SeaWorld,” said Alaska SeaLife Center President and CEO Tara L. Riemer. “This new collaboration will enhance our mission to share Arctic rescue and conservation stories with the public, especially SeaWorld San Diego visitors.”

After exiting the attraction, guests can visit the park’s beluga whales, walruses, and ringed seals, including Mitik, a Wild Arctic resident who was rescued in 2012 off the coast of Alaska and rehabilitated by the Alaska SeaLife Center before finding a permanent home at SeaWorld San Diego.
