Water lilies seem too big to be true at Bok Tower Gardens
Over at Bok Tower Gardens, two rare Victoria water lilies (Victoria ‘Longwood Hybrid’) have grown to an unusually large size in the Reflection Pool near the Singing Tower. Each plant has 20 or more lily pads that are five foot in diameter.

Magic Kingdom to serve alcohol for the first time ever with opening of Be Our Guest restaurant
For the first time in its history, alcohol will be served at the Magic Kingdom theme park during regular opening hours.

Avery Brooks and Colin Ferguson among stars slated to appear at Away Mission: Orlando
From Oct. 5 through 7, 2012, a weekend-long sci-fi convention presented by Away Mission is coming to Orlando. The convention will feature many stars, artists, and authors including: Avery Brooks – the smooth as velvet Capt. Benjamin Sisko from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine TV show and Colin Ferguson from the SyFy Channel’s original series Eureka.
