Last summer, Cinderella Castle in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom got a rose gold-themed makeover for the resort’s 50th anniversary. Now, the castle has the first of many “EARidescent” embellishments for “The World’s Most Magical Celebration.”
Last night, Walt Disney Imagineering and Walt Disney World teams installed the first piece of décor that will adorn the castle for the 50th anniversary celebration happening later this year.
The new embellishment features a royal blue jewel, gold detailing, and shimmering, iridescent draping.
Imagineering developed new colors and gold detailing for this makeover inspired by Disney Legend Mary Blair’s original vision of “Cinderella.”
It also appears that the Castle Forecourt Stage is getting a facelift as well, with new framework and “Please Pardon Our Pixie Dust” signs visible.
Cinderella Castle will continue to undergo decorating in the coming months, with the turrets and towers receiving pearls, jewels and ribbons in royal blues and iridescent golds. At night, the castle will become one of the “Beacons of Magic,” the transformed park icons for the 50th anniversary.
