Busch Gardens Williamsburg’s 10th coaster was built to honor longtime fans of the park’s history. As a result, opening day festivities culminated with the first official ride by Busch Gardens’ most dedicated social fans, who participated in the attraction’s development, from voting on ride vehicle names to signing banners displayed inside the attraction.

DarKoaster

“Our valued Members were among the first to experience DarKoaster, and after hearing their excitement for both the ride and its thematic elements, we are thrilled to now share this one-of-a-kind attraction with all of our guests,” said Busch Gardens Williamsburg Park President Kevin Lembke. “DarKoaster is a unique and unprecedented addition to Busch Gardens and we enjoyed recognizing our most passionate fans and local partners this morning during our opening celebration.”

The family-friendly indoor coaster takes riders on an adventure aboard straddle snowmobile-style seats to investigate a mysterious phenomenon happening within the walls of Oktoberfest Village’s iconic castle. However, explorers quickly discover they’re evading more than just a raging storm as they lean into banks and turns across the 2,454 feet of track, encountering four accelerating launches while speeding through the elements in total darkness – and the ride’s 48-inch height requirement makes DarKoaster is an attraction families can experience together.

“DarKoaster offers family-friendly thrills enhanced with a great storyline and theming, said Elizabeth Ringas, President of American Coaster Enthusiasts. “DarKoaster is the perfect addition to Busch Gardens and creates even more opportunities for fun and special memories with the family.”

DarKoaster Black Lager

To celebrate the grand opening, the DarKoaster Black Lager, a limited-release beer brewed exclusively for Busch Gardens Williamsburg by the Virginia Beer Company, will be available on draft and in commemorative cans all summer.

Riptide Race at Water Country USA

This month, Virginia’s largest waterpark Water Country USA is celebrating the start of daily operation on May 29, 2023, with the debut of the all-new Riptide Race.

Riptide Race

The water slide race on Virginia’s first dueling pipeline starts at the top of a 54-foot tower, where riders in two-person rafts take off on a “dash to the splash” through 520 feet of slide. Members will be among the first to ride Riptide Race with exclusive slide time beginning May 27, 2023.
