Three Disney cruise ships unite at Port Canaveral for the first time

Also in the news was a major change for Disney sailings out of Port Canaveral, just an hour from Walt Disney World. Three Wish-class ships, including the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny, will depart from Port Canaveral starting in November 2027.

Disney Wish returns after cruises from Europe and New York

Before heading to Port Canaveral in 2027, the Disney Wish will spend the summer in Europe, ending with a transatlantic cruise from Southampton, UK to New York City with stops in Scotland, Iceland, and Canada.

From New York City, the Disney Wish will sail a series of seven cruises to Bermuda, Canada, and New England.

These will be the first Disney Cruise Line sailings from New York City since 2023. On October 31, the Wish leaves the Big Apple headed to San Juan, Puerto Rico, and, after two cruises from San Juan, ultimately lands back at Port Canaveral on November 16 to offer three- and four-night Bahamian cruises with stops at Disney’s private islands, Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. 

Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny complete the lineup

Joining the Disney Wish in Port Canaveral in November 2027 will be the two other Wish-class sister ships the Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny. The Disney Treasure features “The Tale of Moana” as its signature show during Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises.

The Disney Destiny will move from Fort Lauderdale to Port Canaveral to offer three- to seven-night cruises to The Bahamas and Western Caribbean. This will mark the Disney Destiny’s first time homeporting at Port Canaveral, bringing its heroes-and-villains-themed experiences closer to Walt Disney World.

Families visiting the Orlando theme parks can more easily add a sailing featuring entertainment and dining that includes “Hercules” and “Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King.”

Five Disney ships cycle through Port Canaveral

Prior to the gathering of Wish-sisters, the Disney Fantasy will sail from Port Canaveral from September through November 2027 and the Disney Dream will sail briefly from Port Canaveral before moving to Fort Lauderdale.

Beci Mahnken, founder and CEO of MEI-Travel and Mouse Fan Travel said, “the expanded Port Canaveral line up gives families even more flexibility to create the Disney land-and-sea vacation that works for their time and budget.

With five Disney ships sailing from the port at different points in the season, travelers can choose from more ships, cruise lengths and destinations, while repeat cruisers gain new experiences without giving up the convenience of pairing their cruise with Walt Disney World.”

The Disney Cruise Line fleet continues to grow with the fourth Wish-class ship, Disney Believe, launching in late 2027, and four other new builds arriving in 2029 and beyond.

This brings the future Disney Cruise Line fleet to 13 ships total. Regarding the announcement, Tracy Wilson, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Cruise Line operations, said, “we are delighted to return to a guest-favorite port in New York, and continue visiting destinations throughout the Caribbean and beyond with our growing fleet.”

Select Castaway Club members of Disney Cruise Line can begin booking the fall 2027 cruises on August 31, 2026, and the general public bookings open on September 8.
