Disney’s new CEO unveils cruise ship ‘Disney Believe’ and bold future vision
The Walt Disney Company highlighted continued investment in storytelling, technology, and its theme park experiences during its March 18, 2026 earnings call, as new CEO Josh D’Amaro outlined his vision for a more connected “One Disney” strategy, including the name of the next Disney cruise ship!

A leadership transition marks a new chapter for Disney
James P. Gorman opened the meeting by calling it an “exciting new chapter” for Disney as D’Amaro assumes the CEO role.
Gorman said the Board is confident in D’Amaro’s leadership, noting he “understands this company at its core” and is well-positioned to guide Disney forward.
He also acknowledged President and Chief Creative Officer Dana Walden and cast members around the world, while thanking Iger for leading the company to “unprecedented success.”
D’Amaro, who succeeds Bob Iger, emphasized a unified “One Disney” approach designed to connect the company’s films, streaming platforms, theme parks, and experiences.
D’Amaro outlines vision for Disney’s future
D’Amaro opened his remarks by recalling childhood memories of watching The Wonderful World of Disney and visiting Disneyland.
“I am deeply honored and grateful to lead this remarkable company,” he said.
He described Disney as a company built on innovation and creativity, with a reach that now spans sports, streaming, gaming, cruise ships, and theme parks.
Technology to enhance — not replace — creativity
D’Amaro also emphasized the role of innovation, while drawing a clear line around its use.
“Used thoughtfully, it can empower our storytellers … and help us create more immersive, interactive, and personal ways for people to experience Disney,” he said.
He added that technology will never come at the cost of trust or human creativity.
Upcoming films and franchises announced through 2028
Disney also highlighted its upcoming theatrical slate, including:
- The Devil Wears Prada 2
- Avengers: Doomsday
- Star Wars: Starfighter (2027)
- A new Ice Age film
- Lilo & Stitch 2 (May 26, 2028)
- Incredibles 3 (June 16, 2028)
D’Amaro also teased Toy Story 5, reinforcing Disney’s focus on franchise storytelling.
Disney Cruise Line expands with new ship “Disney Believe”
D’Amaro highlighted continued expansion of Disney Cruise Line, including the recent launch of Disney Adventure in Singapore and plans for five additional ships.
He confirmed the next vessel will be named Disney Believe, with new details revealed during the shareholder meeting. Disney Believe will bring to life the magical worlds of “Encanto” and “Frozen,” the wishing wells of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” and the depths of the sea with “Moana” and “The Little Mermaid”.
The Disney Believe is expected to debut in late 2027 as the fourth ship in Disney Cruise Line’s Wish class, following the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny.

According to the company, the ship’s theme will center on “promise and possibilities,” honoring “dreamers and doers who dare to pursue their own happily ever after.”
Like its sister ships, the Disney Believe will feature a distinctive design motif that influences the onboard experience, from entertainment and dining to immersive storytelling elements throughout the vessel.
The Wish-class ships have redefined Disney’s approach to family cruising, blending narrative-driven environments with next-generation design, and the Disney Believe is expected to continue that evolution.
In 2029, Disney will launch a brand-new class of ships; and an agreement with the Oriental Land Co.will introduce Disney cruise vacations to Japan.

Human creativity and community remain central
D’Amaro emphasized the importance of Disney’s workforce and community impact.
“It takes people to make the dream a reality,” he said.
He also highlighted Disney’s work with children’s hospitals and military families, including its partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, where Disney helps grant a wish every hour.
Looking ahead: “One Disney” for a new generation
D’Amaro closed the opening statements by reinforcing his vision for a more connected company.
“You are the reason we do what we do,” he said, thanking fans and shareholders.
As Disney moves forward under new leadership, its strategy centers on blending storytelling, technology, and immersive experiences — bringing its stories to life in more ways than ever before.
