Dole and Marvel team up for ‘Healthy Heroes, Assemble!’ initiative
Spider-Man, Iron Man, Ant-Man, Black Panther, Black Widow, and Groot are all certainly worthy of our admiration, but a new super hero-inspired initiative from Dole and Marvel called “Dole Healthy Heroes, Assemble!” rewards everyday heroes too.
The nine-month initiative sponsored by Dole and inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe is kicking off today, March 1, 2022, to recognize everyday heroes in four categories – mind, soul, heart, and home – and encourage them to continue their leadership and passion projects. The program also includes original collectible Dole banana stickers and pineapple tags, Marvel character-inspired recipes, digital downloads, and prizes for inspiring local heroes.
“Motivated by our friends at Marvel, we salute those everyday protectors and providers of a healthier, happier, and more heroic life,” said William Goldfield, Dole’s director of corporate communications.
Shoppers may have already spotted the “Dole Healthy Heroes, Assemble!” banana stickers and pineapple tags featuring Marvel characters in their neighborhood grocery store. Dole will release 26 collectible, Marvel-themed designs in four waves through September, with new stickers honoring the four hero categories, plus the theatrical releases of Marvel Studios’ “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” on May 6, 2022, and “Thor: Love & Thunder” on July 8, 2022. Dole worked with Marvel to highlight traits attributed to certain super heroes that everyone can demonstrate in their everyday life: Spider-Man is responsible; Iron Man is inventive; Ant-Man is small but mighty; Black Panther is loyal; Black Widow is athletic; and Groot is always eager to lend a helping hand. In that spirit, Dole’s Celebrate Super Heroes Contest asks people to submit their own hero’s story for a chance to win $1,000 scholarships and other prizes that can super-size their already-heroic efforts to make a difference in their homes, their communities, and the world.
“Few can resist the classic Marvel origins story about an everyday champion who overcomes adversity and defies the odds to become a true Super Hero. It’s why we instinctively root for the underdog and know deep down that good will triumph over evil,” Goldfield said.
The initiative has also assembled 20 original hero-worthy dishes developed by Dole to honor Marvel characters. The first five recipes are already available online, with additional fruit and vegetable-focused recipes released through September.
